yeah well i got to go to my work beer--less job after this so don't think i'm too psyched. By 11:30 i'll be so jacked up on caffeine, though, that i might need more beers to calm me the fuck down. I'm always too something. this is my life.

Monday night will help it. That's great fucking news.

It was being run against that insipid but we all know, widely watched Desperate Housewives(I HATE that show). And I think that's one major problem with its ratings.

I think Fox knew they would look like even more of boneheads then usual if they came up with a new reality series and killed AD.

Fox was really concerned about finding a show they could pair it with, & they came up with a comedy based on the book "Kitchen Confidential" by Anthony Bourdain. Could be interesting.

Not always though. For some of the year it came on at 8 central. They seemed to bounce it around back and forth between those two time slots. That's a sure way for people to miss a show.

Yeah, the Sunday lineup on Fox is terribly inconsistent. It seems like they change it every week and always throw different shows in to mix it up or something. I hope Monday helps AD's ratings. I would think the fact that it's a week night and most people are lazier on week nights than weekends might help but that could just be wishful thinking.

Mondays are losing "Everybody Loves Raymond"... the CBS sitcom stuff seems to be stagnating, and AD doesn't attract the same crowd as MNF...

2 quirky comedies back to back? I smell a sitcom...

Speak for yourself!

Actually, I only watch MNF if the Packers are playing and now that will be the only time I'm not watching AD on Monday nights.

I've actually been watching one episode a day of the first season as well. Some very classic episodes in there in my opinion. I love the whole Spanish hermano thing. Buster's "Hey, hermano". Awesome!

Couple of "AD" related nuggets :

First, a deal that should help guarantee the quality of the show remains top-notch ( from variety.com ) :

After weeks of negotiations, "Arrested Development" creator Mitch Hurwitz has signed a new deal to remain as showrunner of the 20th Century Fox TV/Imagine series. Pact locks in Hurwitz for the third season of the series. He's also locked in for season four, assuming Fox Broadcasting decides to renew the series for another year.

It's believed 20th offered Hurwitz an overall deal, with a provision for developing new projects. Such a pact is pretty standard for a showrunner of an Emmy-winning skein like "Arrested" that's entering its third year.

Hurwitz, however, decided he wanted to keep his focus on "Arrested" rather than split his attention between the series and future development.

In the short term, such a move may mean a financial sacrifice for Hurwitz, since overall deals almost always pay out more coin than straight-ahead showrunner deals.

On the other hand, since Hurwitz is now a free agent in terms of development, the in-demand scribe ultimately could ink a lucrative deal for his next piece of development with another studio (or 20th). It's also believed Hurwitz's showrunner deal pays the scribe a lucrative per-episode fee.

What's more, the distinctive comedy served up on "Arrested" could portend a strong feature career for Hurwitz. Other TV writers of critically hailed but low-rated shows, like Judd Apatow ("The 40-Year-Old Virgin"), have found success on the big screen.

With a deal locked in, Hurwitz now is free to begin staffing up for the third season of "Arrested."

One series vet, Brad Copeland, has decided to ankle the series for NBC's "My Name Is Earl." A couple of other scribes may leave, though no final decisions have been made.

Deals already are in place for Ron Weiner ("Futurama") and Tom Saunders ("Method and Red") to join "Arrested" as writers.

Both 20th and Hurwitz declined comment.

And second, a little mention in the blog of Kansas City Royals pitcher Brian Anderson, about travelling with the team :

Then you've got the movie watchers. Midwest Express, our airline that flies us everywhere, they provide little portable DVD players — a lot of guys have their own — and some movies.

I'm a movie watcher.

Actually, no, I'm not a movie watcher. What I do on the plane (and what I've been doing since the beginning of the year), is trying to convert our team to "Arrested Development" watchers. I ran into that show this off-season, got the first season on DVD for Christmas and it is, hands down, the funniest show on TV. There's not even a close second.

So I've been touting that show all through Spring Training and one by one, guys have started to come over. Jeremy Affeldt wanted to watch it with me (I have an open seat next to me on the plane and guys come back, they sit next to me, we throw it in and we watch the show), so it started with Jeremy, then it went to John Buck, who knocked out the entire first season with me on one road trip, and now Tony Graffanino is the guy. That's become our team show.

In fact, when USA Today ran a "Save Our Shows" campaign, I wrote a letter to them explaining that it was the team show and I got everybody to sign it. I even overnighted it so it would come in a big envelope and they would take a look at it. USA Today did nothing with it. They didn't give it the time of day. I guess they didn't appreciate it.

Anyway, the show got renewed for a third season, so I'm pretty happy about that.

That's "Varietyspeak" ...they've always used a bunch of odd little phrases/words like that.

More "AD" Season 2 DVD news - from tvshowsondvd.com :

"We reported a couple of weeks ago that e-tailers had started taking pre-orders for Arrested Development - Season 2, but that we were still waiting on details from Fox Home Entertainment about the set. We're pleased to say that we have that for you now, so let's take a look at their description of the contents:

In this 5 time Emmy-winning comedy's hilarious second season, Michael Bluth, once again determined to be free of his dysfunctional family, packs up the car and his son George-Michael and heads for Arizona. But he's soon pulled over by the police who tell him that his father, George Sr., has broken out of prison. Due to the company's shady business deal with Iraq, Michael could face prison time, so he returns home to clear his name even as George Sr. secretly flees to Mexico. Tobias decides to be an understudy for the Blue Man Group, and Lucille begins a torrid affair with her husband's twin brother, Oscar. Arrested Development Season 3 will begin airing this fall on FOX.
