Wow. I think Dratsch and Rudolph are horrible, just one step above no-talent shnutz that is Horatio Sanz.

Neither can hold a candle to Nora Dunn or Jan Hooks, who could deliver lines subtlely and not "this was funny on paper but we're shitting all over it in actual perfomance" like Dratsch and Rudolph do.

My opinion, anyway. I think they're shrill, obvious and screaming out "please think I'm funny because I'm so loud and nutty."

yeah i think there isn't a funny guy on the cast right now with the half exception of Fred Armeson.

and Will Forte, but only as "The Falconer"

Poehler is great.

Though you can tell she's cringing inside at how bad some of the material is.

Mad TV has had some funnier people. Too bad the show itself isn't that great.

Will Sasso as Kenny Rogers. That's funny.

I like Horatio Sanz...

At the end of his first season, SNL did a sketch promoting 'The Best of Horatio Sanz DVD', and the clips they showed were of him in just the background of other sketches......New cast members rarely get a lot of screen time in their first year or so....

That was a great sketch.

I went with Farley. Y'all just voted for Hartman because he's dead.

That's not why I voted for Farley. At all.

I used to like Amy Poehler until she got behind the Weekend Update desk. Fuck, she is the worst pretend-anchor in SNL history. She comes from the "I laugh at my own jokes" school of comic delivery. Both her and Fey have become too precious for their own good.

I've occasionally liked Maya Rudolph and Fred Armison. And Will Forte cracks me up - nobody commits so wholeheartedly to a shitty premise like that guy. But in my opinion, the real problem with SNL these days is they don't have any good writers. They've got a good (enough) cast that's got nothing to through their talent at.

They should shitcan Tina Fey as head writer.

totally agree about Amy Poehler on weekend update. Awwwwful.

Currently Fred Armison is the best I think...fuckin' Frondi sketch with Ben Affleck...that was funny.

I voted Dana Carvey, for the Johnny Canal sketch.

i like Maya Rudolph, she's talented and funny.
but it's hard to tell lately, the skits are so incredibly bad.

they need to scrap the cast and start over like they do every once a decade or so.

Phil Hartman was the most talented, Eddie Murphy was the most original, Chris Farley was the most fearless, Dana Carvey was the best impressionist, and Will Ferrell was the funniest, but as for my FAVORITE SNL cast member of all time, I will go with the one who created more of my beloved characters than anyone in the history of the show:

Mike Myers

He gave us Dieter, Lothar, Wayne, Linda Richman, Middle-Aged Man, Simon, and Tom Vu, among others.

Oh, and there is NO DOUBT about the greatest female SNL cast member of all time:

Jan Hooks

It's not even close.

For the minor complaints about the lack of women on the list:

{paraphrasing}"Women just aint funny".-John Belushi

That's just a joke. I truly just went blank on alot of the actual names of many of the female SNL cast members. I could see the characters they played, but couldn't get the names down.

Sorry

Steve

Why not Lovitz?

I also love the current female cast. If they wrote some better ensemble type sketches for these folks... the show would improve immensely.

One of my favorite skits from a couple years ago. "Free stuff from OPRAH," featured all of them.

i'm too young to have seen him in his prime. i've seen those episodes since, but it wasn't every week like i did with the 90s cast.

I voted for Hartman.

Him as Clinton in the McDonalds is one of my all time fave sketches. At one point the audience gives him an applause that was as much in awe that he's pulling this off while stuffing his face with burgers & fries as it was for how funny it was. Never in a 100 years could Fallon pull it off without chocking to death as he breaks into laughter.

I could've gone with Myers. I still contend that the late 80's early 90's cast was as good as anything SNL ever did.

why don't the girls write those sketches for themselves?
seems like they would be the ones to do it.

and yeah, that Oprah bit was awesome. Myah is a pretty talented impersonator. (and cute)

And, she sings too. And, she's mulatta.

[Pause.]

Ok, I need to pull away from this for a minute... Gasp.

Oh, SNAP!

Agreed. So much of my sense of humor was shaped by the stuff that was on during these times. For instance... If someone comes to me tomorrow with a real crappy idea I will probably say, "That sounds a little Bad Idea Jeans to me."

I voted for Farley then regretted not going with Phil. Immensely talented and the only celebrety death that ever made me cry.

hmm...interesting that it's such a man heavy list. When so many great women have crossed that stage. The original female cast and the current are the two strongest they've ever had though.

The women steal the show nowadays.

But man, Jane Curtin, she was awesome. Her and Gilda. I'm partial to the early years, so I'm torn between Gilda and Chevy.

Jane Curtin is my favorite female cast member. I voted for Akroyd. I think Martin Short deserves to be on the list too.
