I was away on business last summer for over a week, I had to stay behind while most of my co-workers and colleagues had all gone home. I was coming back to my hotel extremely tired and a very average looking woman who you would not mark out as a hooker in a million years propositioned me.

I showed her my wedding ring and said no, then asked her why she was hanging around hotels doing this and indicated that it could be pretty dangerous, she told me she was a college student and it was easier money than waiting tables.

It was very surreal. I'm not interested in hookers, when I was single I found one night stands a much easier thing to deal with.

The way I look at it - if your to shy to ask a nice, normal girl, who you know, on a date, what chance do you have of successfully going up to the slightly intimidating figure of a prosititute, in the street and negotiation sex acts for money? Not much, I'd imagine.

I don't have a moral objection to prostitutes, but at the same time, I wouldn't necessarily recommend hiring one either. I think it's more of a health issue than anything else.

I understand why hookers exist, but I've never understood why they're so dang successful. I mean, for me, it seems that the most satisfying part of sex is the unlikely miracle of a mutual lust for each other. Once that lust becomes wholly one-sided its just masturbation with the added disadvantage of human debasement thrown into the transaction. I can't see how that prospect excites anybody. But, like I say, prostitution is big business - so what do I know?

All of that applies to rape in a much greater magnitude, and that's a big business too. I think that some people are just more concerned about human debasement than others.

oh i did once when i was in germany. i went out with some guys i worked with under the impression that we were just going to get some drinks...little did i know there was a brothel next door to the bar. i guess they're all over germany. it was kind of weird. you walk around this mall-type building with hookers sitting in their windows and just pick out whichever one you want. it wasn't anything great and was moderately safe (condom and no kissing). the grossest thing was the girl i chose, one of the guys said that was the one he was going to pick and then he proceeded to go get some sloppy seconds, or sloppy forty-thirds.
