also jay-z unplugged is ace

that was pretty awesome, for a few reasons:

1. the roots without any of the roots rapping.
2. ONE MIC - - at too many rap shows every dude and his brother has a mic and all you hear is a muddled mess.
3. Jay Z is awesome and has lots of great songs.
4. they had the benefit of doing lots of set up and getting all the levels right.

yeah its so organic and warm and the drumming is amazing and jay rides the nuances of the live beats perfectly

yeah, this "what we do" is pretty great.
i love freeway. He reminded me of the best live rap act i've ever seen . . . ANTE UP!!!!

MOP are a good fit with the live setting.

Roots and Jurassic 5 have been quite good live when i've seen them.

i'm buying the MIA cd this weekend along with the new SOAD.

Fuck you if you have a problem with that.

Lack of sleep on Thursday made me super out of it all Friday, so I didn't post about the show at the Metro. Though, I was super excited to give my opinions....

MIA..I dunno. I can't say I'm all about her music as a whole, but the beats are definitely there. Without those beats in my opinion she ain't shit. I can't say she personally got the crowd moving last night. Her stage presence is there because one, she's a female rockin' the mic per se and, she's attractive. She had a female backup singer/mc as well. (sorta cute) If she came around by herself ever again, I'd pass. I did totally dig the sound last night with the bass though. It was fun and I did get into it because I knew what was next.

LCD Soundsystem are amazing live. The fact that they turn out all those sounds using real instruments really gets me. That place was fucking live from the second they set on stage till the time they walked off after that encore. I saw the lead singer of Local H up at the front of the stage rocking out like crazy, which I found hilarious. Excellent show and I'd highly recommend catching them live even if you're indifferent on the album.

Diplo at the smartbar anyone?? Shit, that was fun. I was really into that set, especially the Favela shit and I'm pretty sure he even played Sergio Mendes!

Who else attended??

this is only partly true. also can't you say that to a lot ppl who try to roc the mic? i mean she did have a fairly reasonable following in uk (and amongst bloggers, LOL) even before hollertronix were hyping her/and hooked up with diplo/ then dropped terrorism etc etc. i think she has potential. i totally see how some ppl find her annoying on the ear tho

I don't doubt her potential for a second, but first I'd have to enjoy that style of music a lot more. I'm curious to see how big she gets...
