they keep pushing back the release date for the album, but supposedly it's coming out in august. the s/t & 4 song demo ep simply just isn't enough.

I also have a live CBC recording:

2 I'll believe in anything, you'll believe in anything
3 Same ghost every night
4 I am my father's son

If you don't have this, I can YSI it tonight after work.

The NZ Bands? Pan Am are okay I suppose, but the D4 are shite. Both The Mint Chicks and Pluto are better newish NZ bands.

MP3s on the site really don't do them justice, IMHO. They are much stronger live (bass really comes to the forefront). They're releasing my favorite song of theirs as the next single, so here's hoping for some improvement on the studio side.

Do they have something new out? I thought the album they released a year ago or so was pretty inconsistent, and I haven't listened to it since shortly after it came out.

There was a post nearly six months ago containing a link with two tracks of theirs. It had a bouncy bassline over disco beats and Stereolab feel to the synths. A far departure from the morose punk-influenced noise of Liars I love. I wish I would've saved the link. Have you any?

My latest favourite band is King Creosote. I got it a couple of months ago and always liked it but just in the last week or so it's really clicked for me.

A Scottish group mainly associated with the small Fence label out of Fife but the latest album is being distributed by Domino so it might actually be available in the US.

They are a mainly acoustic group that write really strong songs with their influences mainly in Scottish folk music and even traditional Scottish ballads and that 'roots' element to the songs gives them some real gravitas rather than, unlike many other 'new-folk' artists, say ripping off some old Nick Drake tunes.

Some are of the tracks are upbeat but it's the slower tracks that really stand out so if you want your heartstrings tugged by a man with a battered guitar (and occassionally a harmonium) and a heavy brogue I'd more than recommend their new album 'Rocket D.I.Y'.

I'll certainly be checking out their back catalogue (they released an album in 2004).
