I'm very interested but I've never gotten it together ahead of time enough to be in a league. If you don't mind newbies, I'm in.

Noobs are indeed welcome. It's my intention that the legue setup evens the playing field as much as possible.

With Idiopathic's PM, that brings us to 17.

I'm probably in....but I'd much rather do 2 leagues of 10 rather than a large one, if possible...

Suggestion- award .1 points per reception, which helps the value of receivers somewhat.

Yahoo's registration is open. Is it just me, or does it seem really early for that?

No, I'll probably PM people once I set the league up.

I'm only running one league. If people want a smaller league, please organize it amongst yourselves.

Reception points are a tough call because while it may generally balance WRs to RBs a little more, stud RBs who catch out of the backfield are that much more ridiculous.

Alright, I've registered with yahoo, and we've hit some limitations.

- 20 team maximum
- Championship week can be no earlier than week 16

We've already got 20 people in this thread, and I haven't heard a peep from some of last year's owners. This may mean a smaller, second league (which some people want anyway), and if it happens I would like somebody else to organize it (though I would be willing to play if it needed teams). If enough people want it that badly, I trust it will happen.

Re champ week: While I understand Billz' frustration from his money league last year, I believe it's more the exception than the rule for week 16 (week 17 is a whole different story). The chances of clinching home field with two or more weeks left is arguably the same (if not less) than any stud player getting injured late in the regular season, and that has the exact same impact on fantasy seasons.

The only way around these two issues is to use something other than yahoo. I'm not overly attached to either of these, so I'm willing to stick with what we've got (and what we've always used). If someone desparately wants these to change, point me to another free service, and I'll look at it. For now, we're going with yahoo.

I will send out a league invitations (via PM or a new thread) next week. If second league doesn't start forming, this might be a first-come/first-served thing.

Crunching some numbers, the following scoring seems to provide a decent total-point balance across QB, RB, and WR (based on 2004 numbers).

Passing: 4 point TD, 30 yards per point
Rushing: 6 point TD, 10 yards per point
Receiving: 6 point TD, 10 yards per point, 2 recs per point

I think that would work nicely.

If anyone drops out I will be happy to take their spot, or if we get enough people for a second league, I would be down for that too.

i didn't play last year, but if there's room, i'd love to get in. i'll be in europe soon during the end of this football season and it would probably be harder to stay on top of the game without this impetus.

Special thanks to Patrick (888) for agreeing to run the second 10-to-12-team league.

Everyone in this thread sans postmersh should have gotten a PM from me with the yahoo league details. I sent out 19 invites, so that fills the league if everyone signs up. If anyone with a PM prefers the smaller league, let me know before signing up. Once my league is full, Patrick can pick up anyone else interested. If it still needs teams, we can see who's interested in playing in two leagues (I would be).

Patrick also sets the expectation that the second league will not have reports. I can't even guarantee them for my league every week, but I'll do my best. I suggested to him to increase the starting lineup, but that's his call.
