we just got an offer on our condo of $21,900 under our asking price which has already been lowered $10,000, bwahahahaha.
doh.

THe houses while cheap, are in the most affordable parts of town. The cincinnati schools are horrible, and deer park has the best schools of the 3 houses. We have looked at some really nice neighborhoods that we can't afford. The west side of town is cheap too, but living over there is a pain in the ass because there is nothing around, the schools suck, it's far from my parents.

I couldnt even look at 'em Timmy, sorry, dude. After stressing myself into a nervous breakdown while building Redlands I openly refuse to pick or look at houses for at least 3 more years. My friend just bought a new place and was showing me around....I felt like a zombie.

Get what suits you best both financially and physically (family wise) and gives you room to expand. Don't sweat small stuff.

Good luck.

I picked #3, & to be honest it wasn't even close. Now, one factor would be "how many kids are you planning on having". If it's just a couple I think #1 would be fine. I LOVE the porch & front yard on that one - all nice & shady. That'll save you some money, too. Lower AC bills.

As far as interiors go, you can always pimp out the insides later.

yeah i was surprised at the neighborhoods that you picked. i suppose that a swinging townhouse in mt adams is out of the question? but seriously i would shit myself if i found a house like that around this area for those prices. that is awesome.

Had to go with #2 only because I can't get past what #3 looks like on the outside.

Does the help you're requesting in buying your house include financial? Because I'll have to check with the wife.

#3

#2 looks like a crack den from the outside.

I don't like that last picture in #1. My room has ceilings like that and it's fucking annoying.

I would like to build my own house (being an architect and all) but buying property is just so expensive. And then there is the uncertainty of exactly how much a house is going to cost until the drawings are complete and a contractor is bidding it. I might shoot myself if I buy a property, and then couldn't afford to build on it.

If its an option. Build it yourself. Or, at least look into in the general cost per sq. foot in your area to build. I know its about $160 $180 in our area. The downside is materials are becoming costly, especially steel and concrete. I am sure wood is the general construction material in that area.

Otherwise, buy the best built house on the largest lot so you can add on. Your gonna want the yard for the kids, and to mow every weekend, too. Bathroom add ons are usually expensive. The downside is time invested to keep watch over cost and building quality.

Good Luck!

I found this statement next to your avatar amusingly congruous.

Go with the house in the best school district, your hot wife and lovely children will make any of the above houses pretty fucking great.

Give your kids the best opportunity you can.

ok, a little update -

House #1 smelled like dog and feet. I think they photoshopped those photos because it needed some work, and the outside needed to be totally repainted. The street is pretty busy too. Option 1 is out.

Option #2 was ok, but one of the bedrooms didn't have a closet. THe master bathroom was sweet, and the yard was friggin huge. It was long enough for a football field I think, but the neighbors were absolute rednecks. They were parking in the driveway when we got there, and a couple of scantily clad redneck girls came out with budweisers in hand, got in the car and sped away. The garage was falling apart, and I think there were four 28-ish year old guys living next door that were ready to par-tay. The driveway was a wreck too. It also didn't come with any appliances.

option #3, we figured out would probably not be worth the money we spent on it, after paying $20K to fix it up, when we rtry to sell it in 6 years when we move to sweden, which is our plan. We are trying to talk to the owners about having them pay for part of the renovations because they are listing it as a 3-br when there is truly only 1 usable room. the other is the low ceiling space, and the 3rd is a hallway with a window and a closet.

thanks for your votes, and keeping it pretty undecisive, lol. Our frustrating search continues.

Under normal circumstances-yes. Place you want to raise your family-no.

Cue UCB...

And in here, we have the "Hot Chicks Room". To be perfectly honest, some of them haven't aged that well and aren't all that hot, but we can get that fixed up before you move in.

Not hot does present a problem. No man should be subjected to almost naked ugly girls on a daily basis. You definitely cannot live there. Have you thought about moving to Louisiana? My house might be for sale soon. The neighbors are great, and they have lots of great kids who will be a fine influence.

If you're planning on moving to Sweden in 6 years, are you sure you wanna buy a place anyway? You could always rent a place, & 6 years is NOT that long of a time frame - it'll go by like that ( snaps fingers ) .

how old are the other homes? There are definitely downsides with a 100 yr old home.

3rd house is burgular repellent indeed :P But you can always update the exterior right? I like the cape cod personally..but its all a matter of what you need/want. Personally though, and you asked, I dont like the shape or the exterior of the third one.. However, its cheaper to redo the exterior than update the interior Id imagine, and the inside looks purdy

well, some jerk-off placed an offer on #3 and it was accepted. Dang, it sat on the market for weeks and the day i decide to place an offer it is already gone. Oh well, I'm sure our offer would have been low anyway.

back to the drawing board.
