some quotes from the story on CNN

"You don't know the history of psychiatry. I do," Cruise said.

The interview became more heated when Lauer, who said he knew people who had been helped by the attention-deficit disorder drug Ritalin, asked Cruise about the effects of the drug.

"Matt, Matt, you don't even -- you're glib," Cruise responded. "You don't even know what Ritalin is. If you start talking about chemical imbalance, you have to evaluate and read the research papers on how they came up with these theories, Matt, OK. That's what I've done."

"I'm an ACTOR, Matt. I think I'm fully qualified to talk down to you about biometrics. Oh, and I fully intuited that you'd say that."

I'd like to know how Lauer reached the following conclusion: "It's very impressive to listen to you. Because clearly, you've done the homework. And you know the subject."

Did anyone else envision these lines being uttered while Matt reaches out & gently places his hand on Tom's knee?

No?

Just me?

Spielberg has to be very happy that Tom is doing everything in his power to make sure all of America is sick to death of him before "War of The Worlds" comes out.

He sensed that he was pissing off grade A celebrity talent, so he had to stroke the mighty TC ego a bit.

There's a video of this whole exchange on MSN videos. It's unreal. TC is complete a crazed lunatic cyborg. Look at the eyes. They're scary.

Oh yeah... and no one commented on the shots of Katie Holmes, who was sitting in the studio. She looked very uncomfortable at times, like a gazelle in a lion's den, and other times doe-eyed and smiling. It was very effing weird.

You can watch the interview here. Also, Tom is a wacko.

I'm actually wondering when (or if) the first signs of negative reaction from "mainstream" media sources is going to apear, or if it has and I've missed it. Like the day an article appears on CNN.com or Reuters or something, talking about backlash from everyday people.

Is this anything at all like when celebrities start talking politics and conservatives get annoyed, or is this totally different?

Just wonderin'.

I've watched this several times now, and each time I laugh harder and harder at the ridiculousness of Tom Cruise's statements and overall frustration with Matt, while simutaneously wanting to give Cruise a huge punch in the jaw.

i was talking to someone ther other day who was saying they heard that the ticket sales for war of the worlds might be adversely affected by his lastest antics. it seems that all interviewers do anymore is wind him up by asking him about christian science--and i'm all for it.

Wait, Cruise isn't into this as well as Scientology?

Not to defend "Christian Science", but please don't confuse it with Scientology. Scientology is way funnier.

for the record, christian science is completely different from scientology.

scientology = ~40 years (or 75 BILLION???) old, believe in exorcising alien spirits from earthly bodies.

christian science = ~120 years old, don't believe in medicine, because in reality there IS NO PHYSICAL UNIVERSE.

So . . . uh . . . what is there? This doesn't get into quantum physics and crap, does it? Because I can't handle that on a Monday.

Sorta, except that Tom Cruise is at least partly correct, whereas Cameron Diaz and Traci Bingham are buffoons.
