I openly want another place to take the hit. It's dick I know, but a direct here could be catastrophic. We're pretty much surronded by water. Our coastline is ill prepared for this, and not to mention that New Orleans is a bowl. As bad as it for everybody else, SE Louisiana has the potential to be much worse.

Oh, by that I meant "Mexico." If NO took a direct hit from a Hurricane, we're all fucked. Talk about Hiroshimized.

Sounds like a good deal to me. While Isle of Debris is thought to be the lowest, I'm a firm believer that you can you can put cigarettes out on the table felt at Casino Magic without attracting any attention.

GOD BLESS BOSSIER CITY AND B.J. RYAN REAL GOOD, Y'HEAR.

"That's the night that the lights went out in Georgia...."

ha, don't miss this stuff at all. Lemme guess... your power was out and it was up to 87 degrees in your house without the AC.

And Dunwoody, I feel your pain... not all of Atlanta is bad, but it is definitely not "the city too busy to hate" as they purport themselves to be.

Hey now. The thread title is a Tony Joe White song, so don't go pissing on it with that Vicki "Mama's Family" Lawrence bullshit around here, even if it is pertinent to your point.

Oh, I most definitely know all Atlanta is not bad. I'm pretty sure the Atlanta crew right here on Obner would (within reason) do what they could if they saw some hateful shit going down.

It's a shame too because my wife loves NASCAR. Knows all the drivers and everything.

It's tough to allow others to dictate what you and your wife can or can't do together, but it would be foolish to put ourselves in a weird situation just to make a point.

I can't do that. It was a big slogan prior to the 96 Olympics. Even had it on billboards along the highway.

I thought he was probably from "Reeferdale"

as an aside, I watched the fireworks in Lenox on Monday night, and while people were oohing/ahhing and yelling I let out a very loud "Coo Coo RIVERDALE!!" people were shocked and disgusted.

That is a kinda weird story. Any bets on the chemicals found in the poor sap's body?

Yeah, its a place to make money not necessarily to raise a family.

And FYI, I spent most of my growing up years in unincorporated Coweta County somewhere between Sharpsburg and (gulp) Palmetto....*mixture of pride, shame, and something like the mind altering effects of livng near high-tension power lines*

How many Loog stories end in people being shocked and/or disgusted? I'm gonna say it's more than half of them.

My mom grew up in Jonesboro. They just finally sold grandaddy's house there like a month ago. What ante-bellum charm Jboro had, say 30 years ago, has all but disappeared, and it is well on its way to becoming Riverdale's ugly, fat, twin sister. But then that's most of atlanta's suburbs... sprawl. Blech. I gots no love for strip malls.

Glad to hear Hersh weathered the storm. Your veggies do ok, or had you harvested them all already?

Where's the Griffin love? Come on now.... ;)

Okay, I just told Dunwoody that all of Atlanta isn't bad, and yet I'm making blanket statements about Riverdale, Palmetto and Jonesboro.

Cap'n, true dat about the history of Jonesboro. I really hope the old section of Newnan doesn't go the same way, as they have some beautiful antebellum homes as well.

btw, heard from my sister that the kid who died in PTC was trying to pull another kid OUT of the drain to save him. That kid made it out, but the rescuer got stuck and died. How sad.

Jeez, I've said this so many times: they gotta make the drainage pipes bigger so's kids can play in the raging floodwaters safely.

Sounds like Mayor Brown needs to spring for some grate covers for them-there drainage pipes... keep the kids out. Damn, that is sad.
