LOL...

"Isabelle Huppert stars as Erika, an emotionally repressed piano teacher still tied to her obsessive mother (Annie Girardot) and fast approaching spinsterhood. When an attractive student (Benoit Magimel) in her class becomes smitten with her, Erika sees him as a potential player in her dark sexual fantasies. Huppert is fascinating to watch in this disturbing character study based on Nobel Literature Prize winner Elfriede Jelinek's novel."

Is this suppose to make me want to see it? Sounds terrible unless I want to something to jerk to. Excuse my ignorance but what is a spinsterhood?

a spinster is an archaic term for an older woman who was never married.

There's a scene in the movie where she (a middle aged woman) comes home late and her mother (an elderly woman) gives her the third degree, even grabs her purse to see watch she has in it. She responded by pulling the mother's hair and beating the shit out of her. It was quite entertaining.

after googling it I learned that spinsterhood derives itself from poor women who worked in textile factories during the victorian period. they were often subject to abuse and rejection by higher class men.

Bet my redneck neighbors knew that. j/k.

It's so funny you mention that movie. I just got it in mail today. Eerie...

Is it any good? The premise blew me away so I just had to get it.

I saw this in the theaters last year and absolutely loved it.

Yeah, I loved it as well.

It was a good weekend. I watched 3 movies and all of them were great. The best of them being The Return. If you haven't seen it, rent it out, it's really very good.

Actually, I'm sorry, the movie is called Strayed.

I'd stray for him any day ;)

anyway, I don't like those intensely violent against women (not meaning they're mysogynistic but for lack of a better description) films. YOu see "Baise Moi"?
like that.

Then you probably didn't watch Irreversible. ;) I haven't watched Baise Moi. I'll stick in my queue.

no, don't it sucked anyway.

re:Baise Moi
That one scene was particularly difficult to watch, but it served purpose for the vengence that follows. Still, while I did not like the movie, I have to say I was shook up by some of those scenes, especially the reality of that particular one. I mean it was so intensely horrifying. I was sick to my stomach.
