The LOST island statue looks A LOT like Anubis aka, the Egyptian god and gatekeeper of the Underworld / Afterlife.

This and the Ankh necklace and the Tunisian "exit point" is all pointing back to ties to ancient Egypt.

Did anyone else notice the hieroglyphs of Anubis and smoke monster on the "Tomb of the Smoke Monster" from which it came?

There's obviously a link to the island and ancient Egypt (Richard Alpert?)

Definitely.

I'm waiting for the island-folk to jump 30 years into our future at some point and find the island being run by Walt, Aaron, Ji Yeon, Clementine, and Charlie Hume.

I get the feeling next season is going to rip open the box of mythology and Egyptian ties and religion that's been just slightly in the background for the rest of the series and it's going to be nuts.

But I still say the sooner we find out where Rose, Bernard, Vincent, et al. are the better.

I think the second episode when flaming arrows were shot at the beach and they all scattered into the jungle and Juliet and Sawyer were caught by young Widmore.

Next episode is episode 13 so that's a long while. By most rights they should be dead since they've presumably been on the island for three years from when Sawyer/Juliet/etc. left to when Locke/Sun/etc. returned and something happened during that time to destroy the barracks and other places.

nice breakdown FT

I don't need to dig so much thanks to this thread. My wife can never explain because her corneas are glue dried to the screen during this show. Its gross fun scraping the eye goo off with a spatula when its time to watch the news.

You can tell these episodes are slowly building toward the season finale. Not trying to blow us away, just laying the foundations.

I've always wondered what Miles' character motivation was other than just money as he's never shown any interest in romantic relationships or anything. Turns out he's got daddy issues! On Lost? Who'd have thought?

It was nice hearing those old numbers ringing out. They were one of the first great mythology parts of the show and yet they've disappeared over the seasons.

What does lie in the shadow of the statue? And what the hell does that mean anyway?

Only three more episodes. Daniel next week, someone the week after, and then the season finale.

We also learned that there are way more Dharma people on the island building the stations than can be housed at Dharmaville. Construction mercenaries that if they die, it really doesn't matter ... Anyone notice they wear black rather than the normal Dharma issued gear?

I found it way interesting when Miles was being pushed into a van prior to getting on the ship (and not harmed) but told to to reconsider, ...there's definately a 3rd faction outside Widmore and Ben... (and my bet this is the group Nathan belonged to before being neck snapped by Goodwin from season 2) because he was a "bad person". Nathan has always been a question for me and these van guys remind me of him big time.

I was thinking that the purge was going to be happening any time now but the fact that the Swan and the Orchid aren't even close to being finished means we've got a long while to go. They've got to finish the Hatch, hire Kelvin, and send Radzinski over before anything can happen.

And, to answer my own question: it means Ilyana's working for Ben.

The sausage party that picked up Miles (making him drop his fish taco? Metaphor, anyone?) told him not to work for Widmore which leads me to assume they work for Ben.

Ilyana asked Frank the same question which would imply that she works for Ben too.

This would explain:
-how she was able to capture someone like Sayid
-why he was suddenly targeted days before the flight
-why they just happened to be on the same plane as everyone else
-and why someone like her would take a secondary role after the crash and allow Cesar to be in charge (so as to not draw attention to herself)

If Ben's serious about committing to helping Locke (and by extension Sun), it'll be interesting to see what the fate of Frank is.

It also leads you to wonder how many of the Ajira survivors are just "wrong place, wrong time" and how many are undercover Hostiles. Ilyana had two or three big guys helping her out when last we saw her. Are they Ben's people as well or just regular guys that she's convinced into helping her take control?

One of those big guys with Ilyana is the same guy who tried to convince Miles not to join Widmore's boat crew. So, something is up.

And maybe Ben just got Cesar out of the way because he was one of the only ones who seemed like he wouldn't be sheepish enough to just go along with Ilyana & Co.

I swear that we saw Cesar in the room when Locke's leg was being repaired by Widmore's men after he left the island this season. He was in the room sorta in the background. Maybe Ben killed him because Cesar was working for Widmore...?

Ben has apparently never seen Jacob. Has Alpert? Didn't Hurley see Jacob?

I wonder where Christian Shepard fits into this. Does he take over if Jacob dies, or is he killed as well?

9. Speaking of Jacob, now that we've learned Locke plans to kill him, that poses many questions. Isn't Jacob a ghost? How do you kill a ghost? Is Jacob's real identity going to be finally exposed, resulting in him exclaiming, "And I'd have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for you meddling kids!!!"?

i'm going with

The most interesting thing about last night's episode was that it turns out that the guy who told Locke he had to bring everyone back to the island (and that he had to die) was Locke himself, which suggests everyone is in a Chinese box of bullshit of their own making.

Not really. If you believe Locke, the island told him he had to tell Richard to find his previous self and tell him that. If you don't believe Locke, then he's just extremely lucky.

I think Locke is Jacob.

It doesn't matter if you believe Locke or not - all his information is coming from himself.

Well we know the bomb doesn't go off and we know young Miles and young Charlotte leave the island, but I have no idea where any of the rest of this is going.

I've got to assume all the 815ers will wind up back together in 2007 at some point but with the love triangle leaving on the sub and the other five split up in different areas, I have no idea what the hell is going to happen.

And we're led to believe that Cindy, the kids, and the other people kidnapped from the tail-section of 815 are off at the temple, I guess? Who's in charge there?

Oh, and major lols that Richard apparently just sits around all day building ships in bottles. This is what a guy who's apparently hundreds (if not thousands) of years old gets his kicks.
