Now I feel silly.

They've been getting heavy rotation on a radio show I listen to but I thought the DJ said Silver Seeds and consequently various attempts to find the album by the Silver Seeds proved, if you'll excuse the pun, fruitless.

Apparently they put out two albums previously (Starry Gazey Pie and High Society) under the name The Bees. But not those Bees (hence the name change).

The Bees "US"/Silver Seas are a Nashville band. I've only heard High Society, but it was a very well done AM-pop style record. Had it been released during those days, it would've been a classic.

I haven't heard them since that record was out, but I'm assuming they're still putting out well-honed guitar pop records? I'm probably not going out on a limb here to say that this could be FT's favorite band if he'd give them a shot.

Yep, well-honed guitar pop is a decent description, but there's a sleek 80s British slant to this new album as well. I would have assumed they were a UK band rather from anywhere near Nashville if I'd gone only on their sound.

They're probably a little too good for FT to like them. ;)

I gotta get my shit together and make a list. Overall, it's been a pretty good year.

Rads, I'm surprised that the Love Language album didn't make your list.

I think it's buried in there somewhere, but here ye be. BTW - I'm hearing a fair amount of World Party on this album.

That was fast. Thank you -
Also, after checking out your top 20, I may have my work cut out for me.

Front to back, an unexpectedly great record. I'm hearing an eclectic mix of influence held together by some good songwriting. Apparently, 'High Society' from 2007 is even better.

yeah I like a lot of those, TOK, but I'd probably add in Justin Townes Earle to any list I put together.

I just got a $50 gift card for that place and have already bought:
Ronnie Wood - I've Got My Own Album to Do and Taj Mahal - The Natch'l Blues

But, I want to buy something that's come out in the last couple of years, preferably from a newer artist. I feel like, despite hanging out here, I've been kinda falling behind on the new music front... just have been gunshy when it comes to pulling the trigger on making those purchases. And, I don't really like to download here at work. So I haven't been paying as much attention to this thread as I probably should have been.

So, I'm bumping this fucker, strictly for selfish reasons.

I finally gave it a listen, and I really like it.

Kind of surprised Rads digs it, though. It seems too light and breezy for his tastes (or my obviously erroneous impression of them).

A couple of songs out-Josh Rouse Josh Rouse.

I really need to hear this. I have one of his earlier albums which I like quite a bit.

I got it off magiska. I haven't gotten into his older stuff mostly due to availability. Yep Roc put this one out though, gonna look for it today at the record store.

I have this one from 2002, and I saw him play about the same time. When I get my music back (about a month or so) I'll up it for ya if you want.
