Cutler needs to quit playing... poor Bears.

I am pulling for GB this time... kinda hate the Steelers this year.

Line will be pretty close to a pick em I bet, no idea on the O/U (I'd make it something like 42.5 but that might be too low)

Edit: Early line GB 2.5 w/ 45.5 O/U

The Packers sure do like to make it interesting. I'll take a Super Bowl any way we can get it though, I can't complain. The match-up with Pittsburgh should be great, I think the overall disdain for Big Ben will sway a lot of fans to the Packers side. Let the hype begin.

Also, kind of annoyed how all the talk is about Cutler being a pussy and not the Packers being sweet, and Raji's awesome dance.

Naaaahhh...Raji had it all the way....(yeah, that was freaking close)

If the Packers win, FT I think we can put that FT curse behind us as far as picks go, however the Cowboys and the Irish(football team) have some work to do, before they can get out from under that black cloud.

On Mike and Mike this morning they were talking about all the tweets from NFL players trashing Cutler. Chicago media is a shitstorm from the sounds of it.

I've seen every snap Cutler has taken with the Bears. I've seen him be sacked more times in the last two years than any other QB in the NFL, and he kept getting up. Hell, he was sacked six times against GB in week 17 and still finished that game even though it was meaningless for the Bears. It is preposterous to think that the guy would just up and quit in the middle of the NFC championship game.

For the record, he hurt his knee sometime in the middle of the second quarter, finished the half, and then attempted to play the 3rd quarter. How the fuck is that quitting?

i agree. as i said earlier, he has gotten his ass kicked for 2 years and always played/never complained. dude is tough and durable, and that couldnt ever be up for debate.

i think its just how it was handled and consequently perceived. if he was OUT they should have never listed him as "questionable." and then because of that, people saw him standing and walking on what was supposed to be a bum knee. granted, the average joe (like me) may not know what you can and cant do w/ a knee injury like that, but it just looked weird. also, a lot of people are asking if cutler wanted to keep playing like he said he did, why didnt he go up to lovie and demand to go back inrather than letting the trainers/medical staff decide it for him

its all weird, and unfortunate it happened to him because his rep was bad enough already. i guess you cant really make a judgment until the MRI results come back

Sean Jensen (Bears reporter for the Sun Times) just tweeted that Cutler has a torn MCL.

The same injury Maurice Jones Drew played all season on.

I think the NFL players' reaction via twitter says it all.

i thought the word was that cutler couldn't plant on that knee. which is why you saw him make some terrible throws at the end of the 2nd qtr/beginning of the 3rd.

now if the bears didn't dick around with collins for two series we might have a different story here....

you can play on a torn mcl, like many people have done. the problem is that when it gets inflammed (as i'm guessing cutler's was) it's awfully difficult to put weight on it. i wouldn't be surprised if the medical staff made the call on that.

Really? Because I recall MJD sitting out the last two games with a play-off berth on the line.

Seriously, just shut the fuck up.

I wouldn't be surprised that the medical staff made the call either. But if Cutler wanted to play on it, he would have.

Brees played most of the first half of the season on an injured knee where he trouble planting. Also, Cutler looked fine putting weight on the knee on the sideline standing completely upright.

Why does that anger you so much?

Look, we can have a difference of opinion on this. MJD played almost an entire season with a torn MCL, period. I have little doubt if he was 2 quarters from the superbowl, he would have played yesterday too. The whole, "Cutler got sacked a lot and kept playing" doesn't sway me much. Almost every NFL player not wearing a blue and orange jersey has come out against Cutler. I think if anyone knows what position Cutler was in, it's them. Put down the blue and orange colored shades for a few minutes.

You are 2 QUARTERS from the SUPERBOWL. If you're throwing arm isn't broken, then you need to be out there. That's how I feel about it. No way you're going to convince me that Peyton Manning or Tom Brady come off that field.

Totally NOT about Cutler's heart or pussy:

Not sure of the timing, and if the "can't plant on his back foot" is offered as an excuse, but I saw his first quarter as pretty pathetic. I think the rap on him is his inconsistency and occasional monumental bad play, mixed with occasional flashes of skill. That a third string QB (and a pretty low 3rd string at that) was the thing that gave the Bears a chance at all is the most telling. Given the start of the game it's a fair assumption that Cutler on Sunday was "bad Cutler" not "good Cutler."

There, we agree. However, I think QB's have bad days, but they stick through it. It only takes one or two drives to be pull it out. Cutler fashions himself a Brett Favre. And Favre had consistency issues, unfailing confidence to keep throwing it when he should stop, but Favre always wanted to compete. I feel ill from talking good about Favre.

I've always kind of liked Cutler until yesterday. His "fuck you" attitude with the media endeared me to him. I admired that he wasn't going to play the media cliche game with them.

Yes, I'm a Philip Rivers homer and all, but he played on a torn ACL in the 2007 AFC Championship game against the Pats.

Though it should be noted that in the previous game in which he injured the ACL against the Colts, he didn't play the rest of that game. And in a bowl game a few years back, NC State QB Russell Wilson sprained his MCL right before half and couldnt go the rest of the way.

YES!

Also: I blame the Bears coaches, because this far into the season, they should know the QB depth chart a little better.
