excellent.

And to the Five Guys fans out there, I just don't feel the same way. Burger is good, but not anything I crave. We have 2 within 5 - 10 minutes of me.

Now this place on the other hand is crave-worthy: http://www.gabbysburgersandfries.com/
We also just had a gourmet burger-specialty restaurant open up: http://www.burger-up.com/

I didn't know that you only drink beer to your burgers. I recommend to have a good, well chilled white wine with it. ;-)

C&B does recommend some wines, but instinctively beer is the choice of champions

Wine is fine. I'm sure C&B isn't recommending any white wines though.

recommended a chardonnay (among other things) with the rheinlander, but i think they intend to match the drink up with the cheese, as it's a Wisconsin Cheese Association or some such site

Yeah...I don't think I'd ever match a white wine with a burger.

I kinda dig Red Robin burgers as well (while we're on the subject of restaurant burgers). I dig that you can customize it even further than 5 Guys. Still, 5 Guys is the go-to burger for a step (way) above fast food.

and on the wine subject- i think a burger is a standard carrier of whatever you put on it. that said, beer, wine, whiskey, bourbon, or whatever you feel at the moment can work with it, depending on the toppings you have. i'd drink wine with a burger and love every last drop.

meat + buns + sippin' sauce = love

My Critiques:

Toots/FemToots (sorry I'm not gonna call you Shera):

Burger looks good, bun looks good. I agree with Robotboy regarding the Ham, but perhaps more than the quality of the Ham, I'm bothered by it appearing to be cut very thick and that it looks from the picture that you have almost as much Ham on the bun as you do burger. All that shredded lettuce is too much too. I'd scrap all that off if you served it to me. You want the burger to be the star and it is too hidden underneath lots of other stuff.

Clarification: the lettuce is frisee, not shredded. We needed a lot to match the burger on the C&B site. The ham- not such great quality, but it was thick cut on the site, so I had it thick cut. The burger was actually quite large, but I will agree that the ham looked as though it overtook the burger, although it tasted more burger-ish. Once the first bite or two were taken, the lettuce smashed down into a nice light layer to counteract the fat ass-ness of the rest of the burger. All in all, it was great.

Just saying. and btw, kudos to Berliner. I'll be over next week.
