Can we all agree that that was one of the shittiest NFL playoff weekends in recent memory?

I don't think so. Not in our Dome.

Ooh, we're shaking ;)~

Should be a good game - your strength (WR's) vs our strength (DB's). Will be interesting to see how Mike Nolan schemes against Russell Wilson - Wilson is a game tape guru, so I'm sure he'll be prepared for what the Falcon's defense has shown thus far this year....but Nolan had some schemes that even confused Peyton Manning earlier this year...so it could be a good chess match.

Tony Gonzalez could be the difference for you guys this game - The Hawks LB's are fast and decent in coverage - but have given up some big gains to big-time TE's this year. Atlanta has been average against the run this year so far though, so here's hoping that Marshawn Lynch can be the Seahawk's difference maker. He's got a new lead blocker as well - Our QB, Russell Wilson :)

(Wilson has done this about 4 or 5 times lately, I'm just hoping he doesn't get clobbered one of these times)

I've been touting the Falcons all year, but really think Seattle takes it.

Good. To borrow from the execrable (when writing about music) & trite but cheeky (when writing about sports) Steve Hyden, "Aaron Rodgers in the Georgia Dome for the playoffs is my spirit animal".

Falcs over Hawks, 31-10... Pack over Niners, 26-21. Then, a rematch of the 2010 divisional round. & another Packers curbstomping of the Chicks.

With all due respect, no way that he Hawks lose by 21 - they haven't lost by more than 7 points all year and their 5 losses are by 24 points combined.

And Stop Breathin hit the nail on the head, the Falcons may call themselves "The Dirty Birds" - but the Hawks play a mouthy physical brand of football that gets under opponents skin. See Brandon Browner's interactions with Pierre Garcon and Greg Jennings this year....that physicality really gets even the best of receivers frustrated and out of their element.

Monty, I can't really blame you for wanting the Falcons again though - the Pack definitely matches up well with them and regardless of what you think of the "Wail Mary",the Hawks held the Pack to a Season low for points. Given the choice I would think they would want to face a team where they hold a more clear advantage against.

a packers-seahawks nfc championship game matchup seems rather karmically pre-destined

Agree the game will be close. Those corners are awesome but, with all due respect, Pierre Garcon isn't Roddy White. Also, you gotta hope that the D Line can be as intense with Clemons out.

For all the hype about Seattle's D, keep in mind the Falcons only gave up 3 more points a game. They give up a lot of yards but very few points.

My biggest concern is Marshawn Lynch going for 200/3.

Heh. You have to admit though, alienating a franchise and fans of said franchise in the same city kinda isn't a good look.

So fucking sick of people talking about the Falcons playoff bed shittings of late. It's lazy and irrelevant when it comes to this Seahawks game.

We have a new O coordinator AND D coordinator, not to mention that there are probably 6-7 starters that weren't on the team last year.

Could we shit the bed again? Of course but you don't just stumble into 13 wins.

I think the Seahawks peaked 2-3 weeks ago and if RGIII doesn't get hurt, I think they lose that game.

I don't expect the Falcons to STB or play poorly, I just think the Seahawks are playing better than anyone right now.

Tony Gonzalez will prove, once more, he is the NFL's ultimate match-up nitemare. More than Gronkowski, Antonio Gates, & Randy Moss (motivated, & in his prime), Gonzalez just gets to balls & moves the chains. That's how the Hawks lose big. Maybe the corners can contain Julio Jones & Roddy White, but even Kam Chancellor on TG is not enough.

Also, it's FAIL MARY.

& Cortland Finnegan would like a word about DB who Troll SO HARD. Josh Morgan will co-sign.

Also, it should be noted that Julio Jones went for 127 on 11 catches against Browner last season.

I'm well aware, I was there to witness the 127 on 11 catches - a few of them were on Browner (including a couple of nice catches that were made despite good coverage) but a bulk of the catches made were on Marcus Trufant - Richard Sherman played very sparingly that game (he didn't really start playing much until Trufant was injured a few games later). Trufant MAY see some action at nickle, but I'm personally hoping we see Jeremy Lane or Byron Maxwell there as Trufant has lost a step. Also, that was only Browner's 4th regular season game and he was still learning what he could and couldn't do in the NFL. I'd still expect the Falcons to have some success against Browner - he does get beat, but he's so physical that even physical receivers sometimes get distracted and miss some catches.

I do think this game will come down to what Chris was referring to above - what will the long term effect be of Clemons injury?? Irvin played very well after Clem went down in the Wild Card game and I expect him to continue that this game - but I'm not sure how he'll hold up over the course of the game, and he's not the run-stopper than Clem was. We do a lot of rotating on the D-line, so I think we'll be okay....but if we can't get pressure on Matty Ice then he may have the time to get further through his reads and then he may be able to exploit the underneath zone. I'd be shocked if the Falcons have a ton of success over the top..they may get a few though :)

And Monty, you are proving my point - It might have been Fail Mary for about a week but obviously you are still crying about it so I feel that "Wail Mary" is more fitting :)

And I still maintain that Tate caught it first and never let it go:

As Packer fan, every team left in the NFC scares me as a little bit because of their ability to rush the passer. Injuries to Justin Smith and Chris Clemons are helpful...If we can get by the Niners, Our best chance would be against Seattle at home, so I guess that's who I pull for.

If that's so, then Golden Tate also caught a few against Bama last nite.

It was Julio's fourth game as a pro, too! :P

I want to see what our D-line does...they are a makeshift bunch, but Abraham will be back and let's face it, he knows how to FUCK. Also huge to have William Moore back at safety: he was playing at a Pro Bowl level before he went down.

Honestly, if we even had a replacement caliber running back, I'd feel better about our chances, but that's not really the case. Turner...is no longer The Burner.

Not sure if you guys will be as interested as I was, but they had Richard Sherman Mic'd up for the Redskins game and some of it is pretty entertaining - Check it out here: http://q13fox.com/2013/01/08/watch-list ... -miced-up/

For some reason I fucking hate the Seahawks and hope that Falcons out-raptor them and win by lots of touchdowns. I think it's that I hate that fraud Pete Carroll. And I agree if RGIII doesn't get hurt (or hurter) Seahawks don't win that game.

I'm just hoping the winner of the Seattle/Atlanta game goes on to take the NFC title.
I'd sort of like to see an old AFC West battle in the Super Bowl, with the Broncos beating the Seahawks, but I don't really have a team that I am desperately rooting against, since the Giants failed to limp into the wild card around this year.

And I think if Lynch doesn't fumble, the Seahawks end up blowing them out.
