Nebraska: Embarrassed in Big Ten Championship

I'm more excited about Wisconsin taking the Rose Bowl away from Nebraska fans than them participating in it.

The vastly unacknowledged evangelical high-fructose weekly Cornhusker posts ITT that no one outside of Nebraska gives a shit about makes this unexpected Wisconsin raping and pillaging quite savory.

It's the most humiliating Nebraska loss in several decades:
1.) The MOST RUSHING YARDS GIVEN UP by Nebraska in 122 YEARS (539 yards with a Wisconsin THIRD-STRING QUARTERBACK).
2.) SECOND-MOST POINTS in a defeat in Nebraska's history (70).
3.) THREE (3) 100 YARD RBs for WISCONSIN.
4.) SHUTTING DOWN THE NEBRASKA OFFENSE with a two-man Wisconsin D-line.
5.) TWO (2)! 200-YARD RBs from Wisconsin.
6.) Tied for the HIGHEST SCORING CHAMPIONSHIP GAME EVER (70).
7.) Handing over an opportunity to play in the ROSE BOWL.

Nebraska was completely embarrassed on a national stage.

Image

Some people from Wisconsin did their homework, most people from Nebraska did not.

Wisconsin was not a better team. Nebraska was out-coached in EVERY aspect. The fraud that this Nebraska team is, and has been all season, was exposed for all to see; and Wisconsin played to their potential.

What do you do in Nebraska after the state football team fills a championship-sized bed full of rotten stinking shit? Enjoy the Outback Bowl, disembowel Pelini, call out the news corps for a several month follow-up investigation into the teams' loss, then go back to jigsaw puzzles for a few months before we have to endure the Nebraska cobsucking bullshit all over again.

See ya later Tommy O!

It was embarrasing, but don't get too carried away with it.
The 70-10 loss to Texas Tech in 2004 was far mor humiliating, as were the losses to Oklahoma State and Kansas in 2007.
Nebraska should clearly avoid playing in any title games for a while, but it could have been worse, this debacle could have actually occurred in a BCS bowl.
Most Husker fans knew it would be difficult to beat the same team twice in one year, especially after it took a miracle comeback or epic collapse by the Badgers the first time around. We just didn't expect to crush in such a brutal, one-sided fashion.
I don't think many people outside of the rust belt states and fans of both teams were really tuned into this one, but I could be wrong. It didn't have the glamour of the SEC title game, and the Big Ten is clearly on a down year.
I'm not a big fan of Bielema, but at least he knows when to bring his "A" game. If I was a Badger fan, I'd be a bit pissed that I squandered so many games over the season after that woodshed beating.
I'm not sure what happened to Pelini and the boys tonight, but they really picked a bad time to lay an egg.
They now get to look forward to a return trip to Orlando.

I should also remind you that the Huskers were predicted to finish 9-3 this season and finish third in the Legends division, while the Badgers were predicted to finish 9-3 and win the Leaders division, so it isn't as if the Huskers were viewed to be world beaters by any stretch of the imagination. If anything, they were a team that got lucky most of the season and they took advantage of a few questionable officiating calls to win a few close games.

I like your attempts at polishing a turd.
That was a one-sided ass whipping from an unranked Wisconsin team with a third-string quarterback.
You can say that those other losses were worse, but Nebraska was ranked #12 in the country, had a team of seniors, were in the fifth year of the Pelini regime, and again, were highly-favored over an unranked team that kicked their ass in every aspect of the game.
Try to down play it, but that was a monumental beat down that an estimated 7.08 million viewers witnessed. In terms of media coverage, the scope of the game, and perceived strength of the opponent, it's probably the biggest blow to the Cornhusker football program since the 1984 Orange Bowl.
Your team looked like a joke.

This is where a joke comparing winning the Big 10 to winning the Special Olympics would be appropriate but I prefer not to besmirch the fine folks over at the Special Olympics--it least they have some fucking dignity.

And now, Bob, for the first and probably only time in my life I will pull for the Catholic Goon Squad from South Bend, Indiana.

Y'all go into your confessionals and tell that priest to tell your God that the Great Satan needs to be slain.

Do you UGA guys buy Richt's postgame explanation of the final play? I don't. First, why do you draw more coverage by running a receiver under such a short fade? Second, look at the trajectory on the pass. Certainly didn't look like a fade to me.

Clock the damned ball!!!

Highly Favored? The line of the game was three points in favor of the Huskers, and the so called experts were fairly evenly split in whom they thought would win the game.
It's also the fifth year of Pelini regime that has won no more than ten games in a season, and that as I said was predicted to go 9-3 and finish third in their division.
You sure are spending a great deal of time on this one, even stooping to posting a sky is falling article from the Omaha media. The Badgers were beating the Huskers by seventeen points the first time they played this year, before Nebraska made their first improbable compact of the season, so it isn't like this outcome was totally out of the realm of possibilities.
Husker fans certainly didn't want their Big Ten run to end this way or foresee this outcome, but they still have the Callahan era fresh in their mind and have sadly taken their fair share of beatings on this level since the end of the 2001 season.

All signs now point to a Capital One Bowl game match up against Georgia.
I don't think anyone of us are happy with this one, and that we would prefer to see our respective teams play in a BCS game, but if I have to see the Huskers annihilated by an SEC team, Georgia certainly ranks near the top of my list.

I call bullshit on that statement.

Betting odds are one thing. Expectations are another. Regardless of what criterion you want to use, Nebraska was favored to win. I could link up 20 websites stating such but I want you to cite your sources that picked Wisconsin to win that game.

I have yet to find one site/expert with that opinion.

Keep drinking that shitty red Kool-Aid...Nebraska lost the opportunity to win a championship that probably won't come along as long as Ohio State keeps dominating.

If mediocre Wisconsin puts up 70 on you, Georgia better break your program with at least 100.

I know it's a bitter pill to swallow, but I don't know how you can't acknowledge that Nebraska was highly favored to win that game and failed miserably. Does everyone in Nebraska suffer from battered wife syndrome?

Jerkass... apt name.

Seriously, get over yourself. It's 18-22 year old kids playing a game. Yes, I love my Huskers, and yes, they played like absolute crap last night. End of story.

Actually it's not the end of the story. You still have to get castrated by Georgia.

Once again, they were a three point favorite and more than a fair share of the people predicting the game that aren't from Nebraska had the margin of victory within the three point spread. I'll admit it was closer to 85-15 in the predicitions, than it was 60-40 but you ask for a source, and I provided one.
I don't recall anyone one ESPN or any national media source claiming that Huskers were going to trounce the Badgers, or say anything other than they thought that the game was going to be close and low scoring.
You should simply enjoy the moment and look forward to that Rose Bowl game with Stanford, rather than trying to live up to your screen name. The Badgers now have a shot at becoming the Buffalo Bills of the Big Ten conference.

Probably true... But you make it sound like we are like the worst program in the world. What is your problem with Nebraska? Just that Promethium & I root for them? I guess those 10 wins we somehow got were all luck.

Speaking of out-coached... if Wisconsin had pulled out some of those plays that they showed last night earlier in the year, perhaps they wouldn't have lost 5 times.

It's gonna be a long time coming before Nebraska gets another opportunity for a Rose Bowl.

Nebraska could have won all their games prior to last night and they'd still be in the same spot right now. Your rose-colored retrospection is pretty amusing.

Well you lost the Big Ten Championship and your entitled spot in the Rose Bowl. As far as the program's perception goes, it WAS the ONLY game that mattered.

You'd think a person living in the twin cities could find something more productive to do than to taunt a couple of Nebraska fans on a music message board.
I allegedy have little or nothing to do living in Lincoln, now that my Huskers lost the Big Ten title, yet I barely watched this game or most of the games this year due to work or attending home brew club events.
The sort of people you need to be targeting pay money to post on sites like Husker Max, and they are the same sort of folks who post faux news and Glenn Beck clips on Facebook and they believe that Obama somehow stole the election despite winning the popular vote.

So, last night is the ONLY game that mattered in the whole season? Good to know. I didn't realize that the first time we played Wisconsin, it was just for funsies.

Well you lost the Big Ten Championship and your entitled spot in the Rose Bowl. As far as the program's perception goes, it WAS the ONLY game that mattered.

Entitled? I don't recall ever thinking it was ours to lose. You are awfully bitter for being such a winner.
