Has Lisanti redeemed himself with this week's power rankings?

I love that he forged a forger's name. &, no, I don't think things are going to end poorly for him; at least, not this season

I've gone from pitying Lane to now loathing him. Not because of these actions really but just because he's a sniveling limey who has to resort to lying and stealing to maintain his position due to having zero game. Zero game with women, business, life. Forever answering to someone else.

Roger can get away with cutting a few corners because he's got style and is likeable (maybe the most underrated thing in business).

Of course, but like Duck Phillips, he saw real combat in WWII. I'm sure he can probably get into and out of just about any situation.

Here's how I would rank the candidates for suicide, in order of likelihood:

1. Lane Price
2. Pete Campbell
3. Don Draper
4. Sally Draper (but not until high school or college)
5. Jane Siegel
6. Michael Ginsberg
7. Harry Crane
8. Paul Kinsey
9. Roger Sterling
10. Mother Lakshmi

Considering the only three cast members who get lead billing -- or, at least, not the dreaded "and", "with", &/or "featuring" -- are Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss, & Vincent Cartheiser, I don't see either Don or Pete being the suicide. Plus, the evidence for Pete has been too obvious. No surprise, there, then, if it happens.

& Price will never do it, 'cause stiff upper lip, chap.

I could see Siegel, Ginsburg, or Megan, though. (Yes, you read that right.) But I really don't see any of them doing it.

& Sally's eventual "suicide" would be a heroin OD. Or manic episode induced by qaaludes -- shades of Freddie Prinz, Sr. (!).

A friend of mine from high school directs a some episodes. I wonder if he would spill some plot points...highly doubtful.

I vote Lane

Well, this can't end well. But atleast we know for sure now that Pete is a grimy little pimp.

I hope he's wearing a gigantic hat next week. With a feather. Equally gigantic.

Also: what's with the feminist, post-feminist, viewers of Mad Men -- & here I am thinking of the commenters I read at the end of the Jezebel.com Mad Men writes-up (write-ups? writes-ups??) -- favouring Megan & Joan as empowered, modern women? The two women who, really, only have their bodies to use to get ahead, those are the feminist icons? Meanwhile, Peggy, who, yes, did conceive with Pete, & Faye Miller, who, yes, was sleeping with Don, but who have advanced in life on the strength of wit & intelligence as much as sex, are derided & degraded by feminists. What gives? Where Megan & Joan use sex as a power-play, "business time" as all business, Peggy & Faye were looking for equitability as much as home equity to result from sexy time. & they got kicked down the stairs by their partners, & kicked in the head by the viewers. Megan & Joan? They get to be the second wife ("saving grace") & partner at SCDPH, respectively.

FEMINISM!

Pete Campbell: damn that guy is pure scum

Joan Harris: don't know what to think about that, but the fact that Don took the moral high ground but told Joanie AFTER the fact. Damn, and the post-context given to the look Joan gave him as she touched his face and said "you're one of the good ones, aren't you". Just great fucking TV.

The Partners: through the ages people have just dropped any decency/integrity if it meant making money.

brilliant episode and it left me non-plussed

I'm interested in where they take this. Once you get somewhere by doing something like this, they always have you, and can push you to do more and more.

So, do the partners ask Joan to blow an account manager for $10K at some point? Is one night not enough for this dude and will demand further "service"?

It's a slippery slope, and I'm surprised no one piped up with that. With Roger tossing off hundos, Don doing the same, and Bert having a serious Modern Art collection, I don't get the impression that these guys are DESPERATE for business. They may feel desperate to get back to "the big time," but Pigs Get Fat and Hogs Get Slaughtered - so I wonder what, if anything this portends for future business and the future of the company.

Such a great episode. Can anyone tell me why Lane needs the cash so badly? I didn't follow why he owed the money.
