Funny thing is, she isn't a drama queen at all. She is a rather conservative (in religious beliefs) type of person but is extremely stubborn too and those two things are always in conflict and she's choosing to let her personality be stifled because she thinks it is the right thing to let the husband have this sort of say. It's pretty sad. He is the drama queen. He actually called me yesterday because I was talking to her and told me that he despised me. hahaha

FemDerris was in a similar situation when I met her. Really close with this guy from college. They lived next door to each other in college. Lots of parties, he dated a few of her friends, etc. etc. She knew his folks. He knew her folks. Basically just really close friends.

He was one of those dudes who was just ready to settle down. Ready for marriage. Every relationship he was in was THE ONE. Then he finally meets this chick who was the first one who stuck around long enough for him to propose. Immediately she started saying she didn't like him spending time with FemDerris and her "friends". She didn't want her invited to the wedding but she ended up getting one.

So, they disappear from her life completely. Cut to 5 years later and they're divorced with 2 boys under 4. GOOD JOB!

I can't decide what's worse. That he was wanting the ideal American life so much that he married this person or that she was so insecure that he couldn't be friends with women.

I've seen that happen another time too and it ended in divorce also. Bottom line, you either trust your partner or not.

Don't get me wrong. Folks gotta do what they gotta do to make their relationship work. I NEVER make judgements about how people operate within their relationship but these things just seem like tell tale signs of a shakey foundation.

I agree with you completely. I told her that and I told him "you're whole basis for telling her to end her friendship with me is irrational and it makes you look like a silverback gorilla pounding its chest but it is entirely unnecessary". He just laughed and said "irrational, hrrumph".

I told him that any conversation she and I had about fooling around was well before he was in the picture and it stopped the moment they started hanging out. I asked him to name a single time since they were even communicating as more than acquaintances that I ever broached an "inappropriate" conversation. He said that he had no record of such things. To which I replied, "then I am sorry to say that any conversation she and I had about fooling around with each other before you were in the picture is totally irrelevant to the fact that you're marrying her".

And Nobody. I am engaged now and I don't mind actually being an emotional support for my friends. Before any talk of fooling around with a friend of mine who shared a mutual attraction with me, we were friends. Well-established friends at that. It's just sad.

I really hope they don't get divorced, in the sense that I don't want any of my friends to go through that. Then again, as Louis CK said, you should never tell someone you're sorry after they're divorced because no good marriage has ever ended in divorce. haha

Wayne that they wanted to name after a well-respected old city mayor named Harry Baals. haha.
