Yeah, it's probably not a good idea to send someone who has been above reproach for basically his entire adult life into a feeding frenzy of reporters when even a minor misstatement could cause myriad legal nightmares.

If only he was a horse.

Apparently, Paterno was ready to answer anything. Or so his son said. Agree with you, Bloor, probably not a good idea.

A possible 9th vicim has stepped forward to the police.

The University President has canceled some annual Fundraiser where he was being honored tonight.

Shit is snowballing out of control.

This may be the single most salacious and awful "sports" story since Rae Carruth. Actually, this is even worse.

DJ Gallo insists that Ray Lewis is worse than Carruth & Sandusky, combined.

I was being facetious, and only riffing on SportsPickle.com's beating of the Ray Lewis is Evil Incarnate drum.

As to Penn State -- the only answer is either to drop football, or suffer a Baylor after Dave Bliss and Carlton Dotson penalty. For the latter, lose 7-10 scholarships for each of the next 3 years; play no non-conference games next year; no non-conference home games in year two of the sentence; feature in no televised games for two years; no televised home games in year three. Last, four years ban from postseason play; likewise, ineligible for Big Ten title game for five years.

Additionally, Paterno needs to resign by Thanksgiving. AD resigns immediately. Penn State refuses postseason invite, if offered, this year.

As to who to bring in to restore the program, Chris Petersen at Boise comes to mind, assuming he is willing to suffer the mediocrity that Scott Drew did at Baylor. Bronco Mendenhall at BYU would be another possibility.

They set up a hotline for any victims to come forward. They are investigating 12 new cases who called.

Monty - I want wins vacated, bowl victories nullified, and degrees unaccredited (sorry Sketchy)

Can you imagine what happens to their endowments/fundraising programs and the like?

This just in: LaVar Arrington confirms Sandusky is a "good kisser"

While it would be interesting to see the writers attempt a post-Reggie Bush-ineligibility-style vacating of PSU's titles in '82 & '86, each won with Sandusky coordinating the D, it won't happen. Since none of the allegations, as yet, date to then, the moral turpitude clause of the mythical national championship doesn't factor. As well, the writers pulled the AP poll out of the BCS formula in part due reticence toward the Stalinist revisionism that the BCS adores & that a stripping of the Nittany Lions titles would be. So, for the sake of consistency, they cannot do it.

Anyway, like it or not, OJ Simpson won the '68 -- I think -- Heisman trophy, Kennesaw Mountain Landis is revered for reviving MLB in the wake of the Black Sox scandal (oh, & hardening the Gentlemen's Agreement), and LooGAR favourite Barry Switzer remains ambulatory & (fairly) lucid.

Those are the breaks of the game.

But, yeah, Donna Shalala -- & to a lesser extent, Nevin Shapiro -- are the big winners, here, since I don't see the NCAA paying much attention to that pay for play now that NAMBLA (Nittany Man Boy Love Association) has been revealed.

Just wait until it comes out that Paterno and Sandusky traded children as Christmas gifts going back to the 1960s.

If they are going to repopulate the administration and program with Bush era FAILS, why not Jeff Guckert to the Jerry Sandusky Memorial Defensive Coordinator position?

In seriousness, though, if they want to pick a central/western PA guy to help right the ship, they should look to CBS's NFL Today -- Cowher and Marino are right there.

I would think they just let oil & gas executives run the place since PSU has served as their in house research department on fracking.

I'm sure T Boone Pickens has all the necessary paperwork; just a little white out and that's that.

So, JoePa basically holds a pep rally outside his house last night? I really hope this fucker gets indicted for something involved in the cover-up.

Did he initiate it? If so, :nono:

By the way, his comments that he made last night were...not good.

On twitter, I've seen people posting pics of outside the stadium, and at his statue show support. Students seem to be for Paterno, alums seem to be ready to see him go.
