It started off as my attempt to just compile a list of 50 indie rock albums that seemed like must-haves. I'll admit it's grown to a ridiculous length and to include some ridiculous choices. But that's okay for now. I'm waiting another day or so and then I'm going to introduce phase two, where everyone votes for what they consider the most important five or ten from the list. I'll compile the votes that way, then continue from there.

Might I recommend a survivor style shootout? I find people find it easier to remove albums from lists than to add to it...perhaps tournament style (multiple lists, with one removed from each list) since there are so many...besides, would be fun.

If this is the case, then I need to add some things to the list first.

In my opinion, the following are essential adds:

- Butthole Surfers - Psychic...Powerless...Another Man's Sac
- Cocteau Twins - Treasure
- The Fall - Dragnet
- Minor Threat - Complete Discography (if this counts)
- Olivia Tremor Control - Either release, whatever people can agree on
- Refused - Shape of Punk to Come (again, blurring the line on "indie")
- Maybe a Spiritualized or Spacemen 3 release?
- Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden
- Tom Waits - whatever people can agree on, but he definitely deserves a spot
- Unrest - Imperial F.F.R.R.
- Wedding Present - Seamonsters

I'd suggest changing:

Bjork - to Homogenic
Sebadoh - instead of Bakesale, Bubble & Scrape!
Stereolab - anything BUT Emperor...
Super Furry Animals - to Guerilla
Velvet Underground - to White Light/White Heat

There are others I have problems with (Radiohead especially) but I know I'm in the minority so I won't mention them. [/b]
