thanks everyone for the good wishes, and congrats tom.

our band started with brown eyed girl after the jazz portion was over, and it seemed to get the girls out there, at which point i went to the porch. somehow there was still a low incidence of hookups, other than one of my friends getting a little brain. you'd think with all that dancin' they could have sealed the deal, but i guess that if they were capable people they wouldn't be my friends.

We had a sit-down, dead serious talk with the band we picked out, about what was off-limits. It sounds over the top, but it mattered to us more than to the average people, I guess. We also genuinely liked their originals, so we asked them to be mixed in.

Then Busty, Bloor and I got up there with their drummer and went into the guster, jayhawks, and pixies. No cliff, though.

I made the rounds for an hour or two, ate, and then the older folk began to drop out. Plus most of the people there were very encouraging, so the was a push for it.

How many people did you have? I think we had like 150 tops, so it didn't take forever to say Thanks etc.

I also went easy on the beers. I had -ahem- work to do later.

Did I ever tell you about the room key snafu afterwords? We got back to the expensive old mansion hotel thingy at like 1am, only to discover that she'd left our room unlocked, but the staff had gone in and locked it up tight, and the only employee was gone for the night. I climbed the front of the building in my tux to get to the porch on our room, but they'd locked that up too. She called the after-hours number and the girl came out to let us in half an hour later, while I waited up on the balcony quietly. Not what we were expecting to happen.

ditto. i had three bites of the steak and about half a glass of whiskey. the rest of the time was spent shaking hands and discussing our future.

suffice it to say that our wedding night didn't really go according to plan or tradition either. we weren't leaving for a honeymoon until december so we went to an irish bar instead-her idea, before i get crucified. i can't do anything right. odd. i put in the work though eventually.

he went easy on the beers now? is this, like, revisionist history?

i tried to get a one-Crack Electric Slide, but sadly this event was foreseen.

Shit you two, Josh and I spent the night hanging with our friends and family drinking a lot and then dancing a whole hell of a lot.

Never had to endure that other stuff. I did at my first wedding a lot which was why I said nuh uh. We ended up with an impromptu receiving line after the ceremony and after that we did our own thing.

Capn, we had an awesome dj, they stuck pretty much to a list we gave them-plus we gave them an extensive do not play list and they adhered to it. But we had picked a company that was a bit more indie then most in the city.

Oh and Tom, Congrats to you! I thought for some reason you alreaday were married.

I had the 90, I think anything further than that would be pushing the very fabric of space and time.

Yeah, I've been to some weddings (understatement), where the dj was very, very good. But that's maybe, 1 out of the 15 or so we've been to in the last 4 years. Every dj believes, deep down, that the bride really DOES want the Chicken Dance, no matter what she said.

The trick is to do the chicken dance backwards during the third round. Everyone just stops dancing and looks at you. It sabotages everything the chicken dance stands for.

I can tell that Colin is like a wedding RINGER if you're the groom and you don't want to dance a whole lot. these guys are important.

I could have half that number in my groom's party.

I've been in like 4 wedding smyself, and would kinda feel obligated to include them, and then there's at least 5 other folks that I would actually WANT there...yeah..plus family, my guest list would easily be 150 people...without harsh cuts I think.

Strange as it may seem, I'm quite popular.
