I went to my 10yr in July as well. It sucked for the most part. Everyone I was hoping to see that I lost contact with didn't come and everyone there was mostly normal, so you couldn't really laugh at the poor slobs who got stuck in Norfolk, NE and are now fat.
The people who organized it did a dreadful job trying to find where people live now and were late in getting the invites out. I was hoping to hear more gossip about all my classmates who are now in jail for some sort of meth related crime and to see if any of my rather conservative classmates had came out of the closet.
Most of my classmates have kids and never went to indie shows on a regular basis, so all I could really do was talk about my job and getting a Master's Degree. The bar sucked because we had our reunion at a Golf Course, and small cities in Nebraska never have a good supply of microbrews or imports.

Wow, you sound like a fucking cock. I think I'd rather babysit BlueMilk than hang out with you.

I didn't mean to come off as a cock, but I won't deny being a prick about this. I wasn't trying to demean any of my former classmates, I just happened to grow up in a town of roughly 25,000. There are only two commercial rock radio stations, which are matched by two religious stations. In general, the vast majority of my classmates are college educated, middle class people with kids. They are all nice people, I just don't have anything in common with them anymore. I wasn't trashing their lifestyle, I'm just not like them.
At my reunion, those people who have remained in Norfolk seemed to ignore all the people who have gotten out and live elsewhere. As for how I was in high school. I was a music geek who was a Varsity 103lbs wrestler and was also active in the Close-Up Club. I happened to be 5' 6" and 118lbs when I graduated, now I am 5" 11" and 140lbs.

Huh?

i just totally forgot what i was going to type after reading that

Edit: oh yeah. my fifth was a few years ago, but there were two separate reunions: the people that used classmates.com to plan their reunion, and the the kids who got all pissed off from not getting invited to the first one and threw their own out of spite. I skipped out on both. I don't know of anyone that died after we graduated. now i'm thinking about doing some morbid googling.

There's one thing I NEVER got...the 5 year reunion? Heh? You could literally end up hanging out with people you have in college classes.

5 years? Give people a chance to live, fer Chrissakes.

So I googled the fundy gay guy ("god gives me homosexual feelings to tempt me, but I know he wants me to marry and have children!") and fuck, he found some lady to get hitched to and is spouting right wing god bothering bullshit all over the web. I was so hoping to see pictures of the dude in a loincloth in a pride parade or something.

My high-school class's fundamentalist faggot - no punches pulled here, kids - shared his last name, by appearance (his was spelled the way the other's sounded), with the lead singer of a Metallica cover-band at the rival high-school. And that's as far as I'll go to reveal the first's identity... Though I'll add that (deleted) was a bit of a theatre- and choral-geek and a bit lisping, but also the organizer of the school's "Time Out" programme that allowed devout Christian students (I went to public-school, that said) out of the last three classes of the day on two Fridays a month to pray and eat frozen pizzas at a local non-denominational church (they were so devout, they had to take time out of their academic schedule to praise Him; they couldn't find any other time in their schedules); the combination led my friend-of-the-time, Dave T., to refer to (deleted) as "that duplicitous faggot". And Dave, while no more politically-correct than I, did possess a considerable amount more politesse than I, so I take his criticism seriously; moreso, since he actually knew (I deleted) (I didn't).

That is all.

I didn't go to my 5 year reunion because I was in the military and overseas.

Didn't go to my 10 year because I didn't feel like it.

I think my 20th is next year and I might just go for the hell of it to see how bad everyone looks even though I really didn't hang out with most of them.

I know we've had several deaths in our class, and scarily a few of them happened right after graduation.

Senior year a girl I sometimes hung out with, her boyfriend got hit by a train on his way to school. That was a SHITTY day, oy.

About a year or two after graduation, this one kid notorious for his parties, all-around fun guy-4th of July weekend coming back from Taste of Chicago on the train packed with friends(including one of my best friends) was tripping on acid and decided it would be fun to stick his head out the window. Decapitated himself. Ugh.

And for those of you who remember the very famous Palatine Brown's Chicken murders from the early 90's? There was a snitch involved who was later found dismembered along the woods and train tracks in a town a little south of Chicago. By the people who supposedly were involved.

That snitch was in my class. He was a nice guy. Messed with the wrong people though.

i'm shocked there's not some webservice that can tell you who is dead from your graduating class. you know that would be a successful site.

Probably close to a quarter of my class is dead. But it only had 40 people in it.

My 10 year was another of these "$80 a ticket, at some bullshit conference center, drinks not included" failures. How dumb do you have to be to think this idea will work? Seriously? My wife's (last year) was at least at Turner Field, but was still expensivo and didn't include booze, I believe.

As Loog once said... the only reason to go to these is to see who wound up ghey, fat, or divorced. Morbid, but true.

if i ever wanted to go to my high school reunion, i can just find them on myspace.

i swear majority of the people i knew in h.s. are still the same and haven't done shit for themselves. ugh. but there are a couple of people i'm curious about that i wouldn't mind getting back in touch with.

My school doesn't have reunions. I'm prettier now than I was then, but I'm not sure it's pretty enough to show up to one if my school did them.

I missed my 10th, because I didn't receive the invitation until after the fact. I missed my 20th, because the day before, my father-in-law's best friend of 50 years committed suicide, and they weren't really up for having company (we were going to stay at my in-laws' place). It's probably a good thing that I missed my 10th, because I still hadn't yet managed to resolve all of my HS-related angst at that point. But I'm genuinely saddened to have missed my 20th. By the time the next big one rolls around, half my graduating class will be pushing up daisies.

I bet you would show up and go "Gawd these people look like shit now."
