No, but I ended up in purgatory with people that only listened to broadcast crap. I didn't have tme to go and explore. Remember the priorities...wife,, kid(s), work, (repeat).

Not slamin anybody but sometimes life/wife, bf, gf forces a change in things that you do. Talk to me in about 10 years...Let's see if you all have the same zest and zeal for music being #1 priority.

I now have a rare opportunity to explore music historically. And with your help as professors in music history, I can have fun finding the threads that have taken music to where we are now. Like Kyle said to me: The Pixies, frank black, pavement et al. ahve led us here right? So what should I listen to first, next etc. to understand and enjoy the music today.

GAWD! this is fun. And I don't really have any preconceived ideas of what is "good" It will all be through the lens of everything prior to 1990.

well, i've been married for 10 years, and have had a fairly demanding career the entire time as well, and i've still managed to enjoy the hell out of music. no kids though [thankfully at this point].

IMO it's all about balance. that goes for everything in life.

i understand your situation is different, so hopefully you don't think i'm stabbin' at you.

oh, and i can assure you that music will be at the top of my priorities till the day i die. it has a very important place in my life.

as far as music goes chowgurt, i'd be more than happy to send you off a package of some releases from the past 15 years that i find essential.

i'm almost finished with my 2005 year end mixes, so when i send those out, i can float one your way as well.

PM me your mailing address.

No, You have a right to jab. It is balance and priorities. I couldn't balance and therefore had to shift priorities.

Two kids does add a few more demands on time. My excuses at this point are a moot issue. Unless you want advice on how to avoid my situation. But It seems that you have the rare ability that I lacked, of maintaining both priorities AND balance. You are a better man than I Gunga Din!

As far as having a radio and CD player yes, But if all you listened to was broadcast, you would probably give up music after a while too. The CD player is a great thing to have if there are others that can turn you onto things once in a while.

To paraphrase: excuses are like assholes: everybody has one and they all stink. My excuse stinks but I have to live with it. Now I have an opportunity to make it smell better and will do my damnedest to catch up. Maybe I'll be able to contribute something to the site after I get edumacated.

I think this is gonna work out fine for him. We'll get him some good foundation, and then we'll work him up to present. This should be a reality show.

I can't wait till he has that moment where he's freaking out to Doolittle in the car. Oh man, to have that ahead of me again... I told him I was jealous in a way, and I am.

If you're a parent you'll have an idea of what happened. It's not obvious at first, but then all of a sudden it hits you.

Thanks Ayah.

Do you really want me to post in a thread about me? I'm actually enjoying staying out of it. Believe me, I had to stop myself many, many times.

Up to now it hasn't been tainted by me. ooops!
No, dude, I was just pointing it out. Thanks for making me a liar. ;)
