christmas cheer, not unlike smoking, has sidestream. This means, like smokers, those who may have christmas cheer are subject to blatant attack by those around them.

Exactly -- he has been providing negative vibes, therefore, he should be 86'd. He'll still have a job, just not the one he currently holds.

The one reason I hate Xmas: Not having any family to spend the holiday with. It sucks knowing that you'll never spend another holiday with your parents, and knowing that your other remaining family is too far away.

i really didn't mean to bum anybody out. i was feeling a little sad so i posted. i really do love christmas and even if i'm not there at the moment they're awake i still think that being with them early in the morning and all day and christmas eve is one of the true treasures of my life. they're 16 and 13 now and becoming more independent all of the time so there's a natural sense of loss i'm dealing with in general.

as hard as thing's get in life i'm so, so lucky in many ways and the entire holiday season just heightens it.

sorry for the negativity fellow kids... but this is the reason why i hate christmas. i usually spend it by myself (not to get any self-pity) but it REALLY sucks. maybe if i ever get married or have kids, i will change my mind... until then....

I usually spend it with my sister, lamenting not being with my mom or my dad, and generally hating everything. This year could be different, but I gotta learn to accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative...something I never do very well in general.

yeah being an only child doesn't help. thankfully my friends are my family and i have a few friends who are in the same situation so this year we're getting together, cooking dinner, saying fuck you to the holidays, and gettin crunk.

Exactly, pumachik. I spend Christmas day by myself, as well. I don't tell this to people I know because I don't want those luke-warm (tho well-intentioned) invitations to spend the day with them.

I've had lots of family Christmases in the past and to be honest, they're not always what they're cracked up to be. Sometimes, Christmas brings out the worst in families.

So before Christmas Day I make sure I have some great movies, lots of goodies and a few special presents I bought for myself and I really enjoy the day!

I hope you have a special "pumachik" day this Christmas. I try to remember that although the "season" seems to last for months, its really only one day!

And for the Christmas cheerful who don't like the negative vibes I wish you a BIG extended Christmas holiday with a house full of in-laws and out-laws!

Meh -- I hate New Year's and Valentine's Day a lot more'n Xmas -- at least with Xmas, I get a day off to work on music or sumpin.
