Forget about dummy dust, has any band ever talked about Suicide as much as the Truckers? And they arent fucking around with that subliminal message "getthegetthegunshootshootshoot" bullshit---nah they just mention sucking on shotgun barrels.

You should really get some of their prior stuff. The last 3 have all been outstanding. The Dirty South, Decoration Day, and Southern Rock Opera.

I like Dirty South but I think the Obner general consensus is Decoration Day.

I'm in the Decoration Day camp. I really enjoy everything by them, but this is just my particular fave that I tend to throw on more than the others.

You know, that may be the REAL reason I love this band so much.

My fave changes when I change albums. Seriously, if I play Decoration Day, its my favorite. If I play Dirty South, its my favorite. If I play SRO its my favorite.

If anyone is on AIM this weekend and has Southern Rock Opera I'd really apreciate it a copy. I'm searching everywhere over all my HDs and I can't find the damn album.

they're the most consistenly good to great active band, i'd say.

I'd say its the New Year among active indie rock bands still in their prime. But I'm not can call your statement outlandish either.

Damn, I reeeally like the Truckers, but this whole "best band out there" thing kinda conveniently forgets about a few other great ones. MMJ for one. Marah and Spoon and Ween and Frank Black & the Catholics for another four.

And damn all your eyes for getting this new DBT before me.

sent. doubt it'll change your mind though. you spend too much time rollerblading in your shorty shorts down in South Beach to appreciate the Truckers.

yeah, im not the one who said that they were the best band going though I do agree that they are damned consistent. And all of your choices are valid (id throw in Wilco as well but thats just me).

And yeah, it crossed my mind today that I'm gonna have to mail you a copy of this, Rads. PM your addy (one more time since you know i dont save it) if you want it.

Props to those who got this one out to the unwashed masses. First listen does not disappoint at all, but I hope the redbook sq improves over the mp3.

Big fan, over here.

I'll see you all at the c-wood.

Cheers & plenty thanks,

audiobill

What really got me was DumpJack's description: "That's what I'm listening to right now. This has immediate summer album, arm out of the window, driving back to northern Ontario to pick up a couple of cases of 50, cheap smokes, deep fry a turkey and god knows what else written all over it"

Take me there, man; take me there!!
