yeah, I'm not a huge comic guy but between that and the Spawn - The Animated Series Series thing on HBO, I really enjoy Todd Mc.

Seriously, that video is crazy. Has everybody seen that?

No Code and Yield are probably my favorite Pearl Jam albums. Binaural was a little disappointing, in part because of production issues. Riot Act was a bit of a return to form. It showed the band trying some new things (Can't Keep, You Are), but also rocking like the old PJ on 1/2 Full, Green Disease, etc.

I hope the new one is good. Allegedly, it's the first album since Vs where they all kind of wrote songs together rather than each member bringing in songs that were basically done.

i remember seeing the cover of korn's follow the leader album and thought the artwork was pretty damn cool. once i found out who it was, i bought the spawn dvd (animated). i am in the same boat - not a huge comic guy but todd mc can do some really cool artwork + the pj vid was damn cool.

This song actually sounds alright aside from the bridge. It'd be fun to like PJ again, but I know I could never get into them like when I was a teenager.

I remember being kinda disappointed in that "Do the Evolution" video, but I'd like to see it again sometime.

My favorite of theirs is still probably No Code. I would say that "Hail, Hail" is easily their best song.

I can't really listen to the first two albums anymore (aside from maybe "Oceans"), and about half of Vitalogy is equally hard to take. Yield is OK, but Binaural only had maybe one good song ("Grievance"). I only heard a song or two from Riot Act.

I'm actually kinda surprised by this thread. There seems to be a lot of PJ hate floating around on the other boards I visit, but most of you seem pretty optimistic.

I haven't listened to Worldwide Suicide yet, but I did like Riot Act. Not great, but there were quite a few tracks I enjoyed (they've all been mentioned already).

Yeah, my tastes kinda shifted was Vitalogy dropped. I'm not familiar with subsequent albums at all, but I like what little I've heard. "Porch" is still an all-time top 100 song for me.

I'm surprised it took until page 3 for the haters to jump into this thread.

But yes, Pearl Jam, seriously.

What production issues? That album kicks ass. That's a lovely, raw, live feeling album. Love it. One of my favorite albums to put on because, with good headphones, it feels like you really are right there in the room with them. Fantastic production work by binaural-god Tchad Blake.

Well, I listened to the Ob advice and dropped "Porch" on the crowd @ the pub last night, and it did not disappoint.
Helped that it went on right after "Would?" by Alice In Chains; got people in the mood.

Thanks Yail, FT and everyone else who chimed in. Amazing how well that band has aged.

Yield's far and away my fave album

I'm listening to this right now and damn it's a great album. It's going into heavy rotation.

I have to wonder what the reason is (outside of them "sucking" obviously) for the sharp drop-off in album sales while they're still packing them in live. You see the same thing in Canada with the Tragically Hip. In the early 90s, they were selling boatloads of albums, but with every release they sell less. They're still packing them in live though, like PJ. Are they going just to hear 'Even Flow' and sit and tolerate all the others? One would think that people would get tired and eventually stop attending the concerts as well if that were the case.

Pearl Jam is one of those bands where I can't get past my dislike for the vocals. Hell, there might some pretty good music there, but it's ruined for me. Not their fault.

For the most part, no. Pearl Jam fans are a pretty dedicated bunch. They know what's up.

Heard this today on my ride home from Birmingham.

Me rikey. Gonna go buy Yield tomorrow, maybe.

That's odd... it's like an idea is forming in my head... as if somehow these two things are connected...

Whereas I keep waiting for that Eddie Vedder solo album that's gonna knock me on my ass.

(But maybe the stunning sadness and beauty of Vedder/Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's "The Long Road" on the Dead Man Walking soundtrack has given me unrealistic expectations.)

Whew. I thought I was going to be the only one to say this.

Always disliked them. Especially that growl-y singer. Blech.
