At any rate, Eric Claridge was in S.B., too.

What about the first UNKLE album with Mike D. of the Beastie Boys, Thom Yorke, Richard Ashcroft, Badly Drawn Bow and Jason Newstead?

All those fuckers do is collaborate. Collaborate with producers because they can't program a beat, cut up a record, or play an instrument... collaborate with other rappers because they can't string two verses in a row.

Great rappers are few and far between, hence too much collaboration.

What's the matter, couldn't find any words to toss about? Couldn't find any examples to refute this outlandish claim? Or is there too much truth in the "hip hop his riddled with bullshit" stereotype?

Because hip hop is riddled with bullshit. It's a shame that the artists that I deem talented languish in ignominy.

wrong, this isnt the same as when a rappers song 'features' other rappers - which is what you're getting at. Actual groups like DITC are (were) suprisingly few and far between.

I'm not disputing that they're a group. I'm disputing that they're super.

Kind of backwards since they were together, then solo artists, not formed from other bands, but NWA certainly qualifies when speaking about rap, Phil.
And then, I dunno, Meth and Red?!

i dont' consider the Wu a supergroup because they were all unknown before Wu-Tang.

I'm gonna back Phil up to a degree and say that comparing groups where some members get almost NO recognition (bassists, drummers, keyboardists etc) is fundamentally kinda different than 3 or 4 guys all rapping one after another. How hard is it to go from one "rap group" (and I have serious questions about that term) to another, vs. playing an instrument...

- and don't misconstrue that as an attack on the artistic merits of rap. It really isn't.

well, he was clearly attacking the merits of rap, and really out of the blue.
and i agree that a colaboration on a song or two isn't a super group. But for a group of three or four rappers and producers to get together and make a whole album . . .i don't see how that is any easier or harder than four dudes writing rock songs togehter.

and it's not common at all in hip hop to have a full album by four or more people who don't normally record together.

clearly. and completely out of the blue.

The inclusion of fat joe is all you need to remove any credence from your claim.
