Glad to see the End is Near getting some love. I think it was criticized for being too "more of the same" when it arrived in the summer of '04 and then suffered a quite off-the-mark Ott review on zee Fork.

But, my 2nd favorite record from '04 after A Ghost is Born.

Right now I'd say British Sea Power and The New Year are running neck & neck. If the Arcade Fire can issue a follow-up or two comperable to Funeral, they'll probably take the lead. Forced to pick now, though, I'd pick

british sea power are up there for me too - they dont get a lot of love but I listen to their 2 albums a ton. Really great stuff.
