as long as the trains are air conditioned i don't mind the 10 minute wait on the platform.

You seen the pictures of the space shuttle re-entry? Some idiot went out for a bike ride today without sun cream. I have fair skin, i am now a nice shade between bright red and pink.

I thought i was used to the heat after spending a fair amount of time in Greece but this humidity is killing me. May hit 95 degrees on Wednesday.

was he riding it on the outside of the shuttle as it re-entered the atmosphere? I don't understand the connection.

Wanker. Yes thats right he was.

Surely you can imagine the shuttle going through re-entry and burning up and get the exaggeration. You are american.

seriously, i rock a bathingsuit, vans slip-ons, and a plain white tshirt to reflect as much sun as possible.
it takes a lot for me to start to smell, sweat or no sweat.
good deodorant, i guess, plus i ride in at 8am when it's still not so bad & i ride through prospect park. shade helps.
and lots of sunscreen. always lots of sunscreen.

edit: by the way, any leads on yr stolen shit?

A high today in Austin around 102. I spent yesterday doing yardwork and drank about two gallons of water. Today I'll be doing a little bit of work outside, but then will be playing kickball around 6:30PM, and it will sure as hell still be hot. My solution will be a couple of gatorades and a twelver of PBR. As long as I keep hydrated and don't mind sweating, I can take pretty much anything. That's good - I'll have to - I'm going camping in Big Bend National Park from Thursday - Monday. It's going to be really freaking hot.

kickball + pbr = impossible to have a bad time, no matter what the temp is

We'll be dropping by terlingua and marathon to visit friends who helped us when our transmission went out 30 miles from anywhere on Hwy 385 the last time we were down there - i'll be bringing a couple of bottles of homemade wine to thank these folks. Looks like highs are ranging from mid 80s in the Chisos Mountains to low 100s by the river to FUCKING HOT out in the desert proper. This is going to be epic.

NICE!

I spent a spring break in college hiking and camping out there. Some of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever experienced but yeah, quite hot.

Just remember. They don't stop you at the border patrol on the way in to the park........only when LEAVING the park.

When I went....there was an, um, issue.

This'll be my third trip there this year!

As for las migras, since they've closed down the border crossings within the park, there is less drug smuggling. I used to have friends who would go down to Boquillas and buy pot and peyote by the kilo, but now the only shit you see is the most horrific of local schwag. Beyond that - shit, I stopped smoking regularly about five years ago. What I do is cherish the moment that I hit the dirt roads, take off my shirt, undo my seatbelt, and crack an ice cold beer. God bless Big Bend.

Yeah, he is. I have heard that quite a few of these really remote towns along the West Texas I-10 corridor are turning into artist colonies and the like, which is weird and interesting. "Steers and Queers", indeed! Hell, it's gorgeous out there - I could see that being really appealing

Wait. Are the global warming comments jokes? I thought that global warming isn't "provable" by hot summers and cool winters. Besides, I remember two summers ago in CA where I was, it hardly broke 90. That is not hot at all. And the following Christmas was one of the coldest out here in VA that we've had in a long time. It snowed like almost a foot out here which happens about every decade. I just didn't think the individual heat spurts and cool spurts really had much at all to do with the issue of global warming at all. I thought global warming was the general warming of the globe itself, not the air temperature.

I am really really confused.

Was one of them some BBQ Sauce? Please tell me that it was.

Word. I just moved north from Austin. It only hit 97 here and I was walking around all day like "pffft....you pussies don't know what hot is"....then I got back to my apartment. Northerners don't consider AC a necesity so my apartment only has one window unit. I'm fucking dripping sweat. This sucks ass.
