I wish that second IM conversation wasn't between an old man and a kid. Then I wouldn't feel so dirty reading it.

So, I'm getting really annoyed at the guys (senator molo and the sicko who killed the amish girls) who seem to blame everything on being molested themselves. well, the sicko in amish country was a molester when he was a kid, but whatever.

There are a lot of people who were molested as kids who would never think to molest another kid. They know how awful it was for them and they break the cycle. So, you're a pervert and automatically blame the drink and being molested as a kid? How about you're just a pervert and you got caught. Own up to it, get some help, and move the fuck on. God, I hate people sometimes. I always think that people are more sorry they were caught instead of being sorry for whatever act they did wrong.

yeah, its funny that the party of cracking down on crime goes for the troubled childhood defense.

Every fucker in prison has a sad story.

I don't doubt that every fucker in prison has a sad story. Or at least a good 50% of them (how many people knew a rich kid with a somewhat normal family in high school who always got into trouble?). I just don't think that it should come out now, after he's been caught, that we should pity him because of a poor upbringing.

Man, am I crabby this morning.

I saw that on Imus this morning. Too funny.

That along with a sequence on Countdown last night showing all these clips on Fox of their people invoking names like Barney Frank and Bill Clinton--including Sean Hannity saying that Bill Clinton took advantage of a "teenager" because Lewinsky was only 19 (she was actually 21), etc.

The worm has turned, and I think its funny that right minded people still listen to these people. Scarborough, though, is cutting promos left and right, saying this party no longer represents him or the ideals they are elected to uphold.

"And lastly, Mark Foley wants you to know that he is a gay man."

This is the latest, most disgusting element of this whole episode...it's almost like they're trying to push the old "gay/molester" saw.

The fact that he's gay only skewed who he would molest - it's not the reason he'd molest them in the 1st place.

I don't think the party of three-strikes and you're out, lock 'emall up and get tough on crime should be using the old sad story routine now, later or five years ago for that matter.

OH...and we're talking about way less than half of prisons being that good family kid gone bad type. More like 10-20% max and that's being generous. Hell, over half of prisoners are functionally illiterate. Most of the kids from the "right side-of-the tracks" get their shit together, with some help from family and friends, before it escalates to the realm of long term prison sentances. That, and judges tend to slap the wrists and toss around fines to kids from "good families" while they toss kids from the streets into jail.

Prisons are mostly full of kids from impoverished backgrounds where they had little to no parental guidance and abuse runs rampant. They are those that we have cast aside as a society. I belive they should be punished for the shit they do...don't get me wrong. But, I also don't think we shouldn't harbor any illusions that these aren't mostly people who were fucked from the git go.

Any truth to the rumor that Hastert knew other Congressmen had nicknamed Foley "Sleepover"?

I don't know if anyone has previously mentioned it, but doesn't Hastert make you wish Chris Farley was alive to play his fat ass on a SNL skit?

They'll just get John Goodman, like they did for Linda Tripp.

The Nation deals in facts, generally-speaking, and has nary a comic bone in its body -- so it's not the ONION, but in that regard, is typical of arch-leftists -- but it's a bit more alarmist than what you'd find in TIME, Newsweek, or even New Republic or National Review. So, consider it the left-wing rendition of the Weekly Standard, just an hundred fifty years older (give or take a coupla).

Reliability index, then: 3.5/10.

The Nation? I think it's just as reliable as CNN if not moreso, though I'm sure others wouldn't agree.

If I had to bet, I would say this is not made up out of whole cloth, but not likely to happen, either.

The Nation is THE premier pinko-leftist-commie rag. I think harry probably wears Nation PJs, and Borg jacks off to picture of Katrina Vanden Heuvel (i fuh, and in fact tried to)

Let's just say that the editors and supporters of the nation probably thought that George McGovern was a sop for corporations and too far to the right and undeserving of beating Nixon.
