The list is updated and sorted.

I took out Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 because it was released in September 1992, and also took out Sebadoh's Smash Your Head on the Punk Rock, which was also released the previous year.

Let me know what else is missing

...:wtf:

I mean, siamese dream, first frank black, good fugazi... there's like 7 or 8 HEAVIES on that list, much less decent filler.

I had a hard time coming up with 20 albums that I felt strongly about. Considering that this was a year where I was actually alive (albeit only 13) and aware of some portion of the music out there (mostly grunge and rap at the time), you'd think it'd be easier for me to come up with more stuff that I really love than it would be for a year like 1971, 8 years before I was born.

Siamese Dream (and the 'Pumpkins in general) is overrated. That's my least favorite Fugazi album. I freely admit that there's probably some really good stuff I haven't heard from '93, including that Frank Black album (don't really have a good explanation for why I haven't heard it), but I still don't think it's a great year. A good one, sure. I did add two other albums to my list (Autechre and Morphine) after posting that comment that raise the overall year a few notches for me. Wu-Tang, Nirvana, and great Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, Stereolab albums as well as the best µ-ziq album definitely add up to a good year. '91 and '92 are better.

'91 is better...I like '93 better than '92.

Anyway, comparing '71 to '93 isn't really fair. I cherry-picked one of the very best years to start this series. '93 is up there for me because I was 19 and finishing my first full year as a DJ at WNUR.

1993 is definitely a great year.

Nirvana, Belly, Tindersticks, Lisa Germano, µ-ziq, Red House Painters, Breeders, Morphine, and Mazzy Star all released the best albums of their careers.

Tom Waits, Stereolab, Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, and PJ Harvey released albums in the top 2 or 3 of their careers.

I like 93 better than 90, 92, or 94.

Suede, Wildhearts, and Morphine for me.

You know it's a bad year when the Fleshtones and Jazz Butcher records suck.

This looks like fun. Once I get caught up here, I'll try and contribute.

Another omission - the Orange Juice compilation "This Heather's on Fire" is listed as coming out in June 1993 according to allmusic
