Oh man, I loved Mask. Now that would be one silly movie. I don't really remember much abut it except that the vehicles transformed into other vehicles… and the dudes wore masks?

Though it probably wouldn't be as dumb as a G.I.Joe movie.

If Spielberg puts his name on something, he's usually involved at some creative level. He was very hands-on as an exec producer for Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Pinky & the Brain, and Freakazoid.

i think those projects you listed were all produced prior to the formation of dreamworks. he is now technically an executive producer on everything dreamworks has anything to do with, including eels records. so, he allowed his name to be used on a giant summer movie that clearly can generate a ton of interest on the license alone... i'm not convinced that means much at all.

I rarely go to the cinema these days, but this film just may get me to go. Larger than life transformers sound way too cool to pass up.

I am stoked for this movie. I don't care if it is made by Bay and I don't care if it is a transformers movie. I am EXCITED!

Has anyone else expressed disappointment that this is rated PG-13? The trailer makes it seem like it could be a great R movie.

Apparently, a gunshot or explosion drowns out the 'fucker' park.

i think you can say "fuck" once in a pg-13 movie, so they'd be ok... but, c'mon, it's a die hard movie!

and to get this back on track, i just realized transformers comes out next week. do not let me down, michael bay!

I know. I saw the posters in theaters last summer when I was here, and ever since, I've been a-waitin. Part of wishes they'd left the transformers as their original 80's selves, vs updating them. But either way.

I saw this last night and surprisingly the lack of the F-word doesn't change the fact that it is a ridiculous action movie that serves one purpose: to blow up and kill everything in a completely surrealistic manner. Worth the price of admissions? Not really. It has a lot of action, a lot of shootin', and a lot of chuckleworthy moments, but it is a die hard movie. John McClane saves the world single-handedly. Nothing new.

Why would you make Transformers, a movie based on a cartoon, R-rated when there is clearly SHITTONS more money in a movie that is PG-13 or below.

I would rather have transformers be pg-13 because it is designed for kids. No need for an R rating on that movie.

This is the only huge hollywood Blockbuster that I've had any interest in seeing this summer.

Something about Shia Labouf (sp?) annoys me though and fucking hate Tyrese.

People who grew up watching watching Transformers are old enough to watch R movies. I guess they still rerun the cartoon, though.

The movie seems a little too violent for kids, but maybe it's not. Maybe I imagined it to be more violent than it really is.

They still make Transformers, so there's anew crop of kids (or so I hear) that will be interested in this. Plus, the obvious transition into uberSales on the toy market following the film. Yeah they had to make this PG-13. meh.

Following the film? Been to the toy section of a walmart or toysrus lately? Transformers stuff has been in there since just after Christmas. haha.

Yes, I have. Or at least, I've been past those sections on my way to buy cool, non-dorky stuff*. Transformers stuff has been selling longer than that - just not in HUGE numbers. Expect a big push following the film.

* I do my transformers shopping on ebay, when/if.
