2. I'm in a moped gang here

you in moped army?

I certainly am! Do you know any of the NYC moped army people (mission 23, crosstown kings)?

i know a woman who sports the moped army patch with pride. met her about a month ago at a party, we talked bikes & mopeds & she offered to take me out for a spin one of these weekend nights when it warms up a bit. i think she's got 3 in all, 2 of 'em are motobecanes if i recall correctly.

Hmmm...there's a moped girl in NYC that I know named Ali, who is really cool. I wonder if that's who it is. Actually my roommate tried to get with her one time when she was in town, but he got rejected. He has a loft in his room, and he turns to her and says "So...what's your loftability?" and gave the suggestive eyebrow raise. She was like "Yeah, um, I don't know..." There is a girl named Annie too, but I think she's into other girls.

You want to hear something funny? We actually have a rival moped gang in town. We used to all be in the same gang, but there was a big falling out last year and we split into two (long story). What a ridiculous life I lead.

i didnt want to name names first, but yep, i know annie.

the fact that there are rival moped gangs only sweetens the deal. you should tell the story of how one tribe split into two and the children of man ripped the moped army asunder with a mighty lightning bolt and terrible thunderclaps.

I mostly live in Lincoln because I am essentially stuck here at this point in time until I accumulate some wealth, and I basically need to leave to accumulate wealth.
I couldn't really see myself living anywhere else besides maybe Omaha, Minneapolis or Sioux Falls since most of my friends and family live in those areas.
If I got a decent job offer I'd move anywhere in a second, but I've been nowhere near as ambitious about looking for a job so far this year as in the past.

Work and volition, and because it's Montreal, which is also the best reason to not be here.

Moved here 13 years ago to attend grad school after five post-undergrad years spent in a dead-end corporate abyss, and have never left the area, though we have moved from 'burb to 'burb more than a few times.

Definitely more pros than cons to living here. I can only think of a handful of places in the lower 48 I'd rather live, and a TON I'd NEVER leave here for.

I chose work.

However, I fully intended to live in NYC until I finally accepted the fact that starting out in the music biz in that city without having a huge trust fund is tougher than I would allow myself to believe when I moved there.
I like Nashville. I moved here for work and for the fact that there is a bubbling indie music scene here. Though I've found that many of these bands could care less if they are ever discovered/break outside of this local music community.

Now that I'm a homeowner with a very cheap mortgage, it's a no-brainer to stay. Plus, I have a huge yard for my dogs to run in. The neighbourhood is quiet and the neighbours are nice. While it's not close to work, I'm used to the drive.

One day, after I've renovated the house to make it worth a bit more, I may consider moving. Honestly, though, I'd probably stay in the same general area...maybe a couple of towns over.

Also don't forget that your property taxes are based on the price of the house when your parents bought it!

Moved here for uni. Most of the people from my high school went to uni a couple hours north of here, but I'd already decided by yr 10 that I wanted to be in Sydney, so more own volition than work/study

That said, if I can get a grad job in Melbourne, I'll be there in a second

I went with "don't know."

My family is here and I've spent most of my life in this area, save for a few years in Florida when I was 8ish, but I certainly don't feel like there's any reason for being here. It's a mostly desolate, boring, dead-end spot that only happens to be close to Burlington VT and Montreal.

I've been mulling over the idea of moving out of state soon, although it always comes down to money; without any real work prospects or connections (I honestly don't know a soul elsewhere) I just feel like I'm going to end up by myself and living in some shithole. My current situation isn't exactly the greatest anyway, but I've always been scared to take chances.

My family moved here when I was thirteen. I haven't had a job that's paid well enough for me to move out, let alone move to a different city.

Wife grew up here, wanted to move back. I said "no"... we were dating.

I caved in. For 9 months or so, then

I buckled and went back to ATL. For 8 months, and then

I realized I liked it here better. It's been 5 years. I don't wanna live in GA no mo. I like other places too, but very, VERY few places have the quality of life that Madison does with prices this low (relatively speaking). Look that shit up. I ain't lyin'.

i live where i live because my parents live here, and since living up where i live costs an arm and a leg, and i cant support myself doing the job im doing now, i wont be moving until i start a career where i can make more money. if i do move, it'll be somewhere smaller, but still in the nwt. my city is a little big for me (about 18,000 people, ftr)

Poll needs separate categories for the "family" responses and the "that's where my parent's basement is" responses.

Followed a job to L.A.
Job ended.
Chose to move back to NJ where the family is.

Just signed a lease for an apartment, but it's only an hour away, so I'll still be able to get a Mom-cooked meal on a regular basis. I mean, it's not like I'm going to voluntarily eat a vegetable if no one's looking.

I think I'd love to move to San Francisco and area if I could. Or back to British Columbia when the time is right. So beautiful on that coast.

For the kids.

Our specific suburb:
Found a nice house we could actually afford. Schools are great. It's safe. Location is damn good for getting anywhere around Chicagotown.

Because of my parents I was born here so family I guess. I used to want to get out of Indiana pretty bad but I'm pretty comfortable now.
