My 10-year reunion was 2 years ago. Despite being held at one of the worst bars in Chicago (Joe's on Weed Street), it was fun to catch up with people. Several of the jocks got fat and many of the former supernerds were doing quite well socially and financially.

Nah - Brook was more in the "misfits" category rather than the "nerds" category (that, and she really didn't have much money in 2006).

I helped plan my 10 year reunion which turned out to be fun. I took an eight ball, drank all night and learned I had been "popular" in high school. Sure I was, you just want some of my blow.

Some things in this world are absolutes. "Cocaine makes you popular" would be one of those things.

Or, at the least, it makes you think you are.

Had mine last June. I'm from a small town and I learned nearly everyone was married, had kids and a few had already been divorced. I was one of about 10 people who had moved out of the state of Georgia.
Of course the true "cool" people didn't come. I was guilted into it by my Mom, my old HS flame and old friend who had put together the whole thing (which was easily predicted before we had even graduated). Had there been a Senior superlative for "Most likely to organize the 10 year reunion", this gal would've won.
I ended up getting trashed and basically all-night talking to this guy I was friends with in early HS who had gone into the Marines after HS and was now out. I hadn't kept in touch with anyone I grew up with save a couple who ended up at UGA around the same time as me and a couple of gals I was friends with via my old HS girlfriend.
A few people who knew that I loathe modern Country music
thought it was hilariously ironic that I spend part of my day at work booking old country acts that were big in the 70s/80s/90s.

I went to private school but was friends with quite a few people in the rural town where my family lived throughout high school. Every now and again I go to the grocery store (or some other local hot spot) while visiting my family and I see another old friend from that time and we catch up briefly. Most of them not only never left the state, they never left Windsor, VA. Most had kids, some of whom they weren't allowed to see because of "that bitch ex wife". And every now and again I'd run into some old girl that I used to have a crush on; a girl that you would have thought would have left the town and never looked back, headed for bigger and better things. NOPE. Still there and she actually would tell me how envious of me she was of my "free spirit" just because I moved to California for a couple years and used to live in the Outer Banks in NC. At my most egocentric, I feel sorry for some of these people, but half of them couldn't be happier, and I suppose that makes me feel okay. They don't know what they're missing, and they just don't care. Good for them, I guess.

My 10 year won't be until 2010 (if it happens at all), but it seems like I have a high school reunion at weddings in the summer or holidays when almost everyone is in town and at the same bar.

I've enjoyed reading this thread, because my 10th is coming up next year. I've been totally up in the air about going. But considering how unpopular I was, I'm not even expecting an invite.

My 10th is next year as well. I was also not very popular, being a band nerd and all, and was sort of thinking the same thing in terms of whether I'd even be invited. Less because of not being liked, but more because I figured they'd overlook me.

Mine is currently being planned by a couple of the popular girls. They got Facebook and MySpace groups together, and surprisingly I was one of the first people they invited to join those groups.

I think I'm going to go, just because I think it'd be funny. Most of these people haven't even left Henry County yet, are married, and have multiple children. I imagine they aren't exactly going to be party animals, but I could be wrong. The ones that did leave live in Atlanta, aren't married, but still have children, and they are serious party animals. Who knows if I'll even have anything to say to them- it's going to be like a big old sociology experiment.

I'd like to add that I put myself in the "cooler and hotter now than I was then" category, and it will be interesting to see how they interact with me.

I'd say save your money.

I went, and ran into a couple old friends I actually cared about re-connecting with, but then after that night, they disappeared again.

Alot of my class still lives in our hometown with families, kids, extra pounds...

Some of the ones who went to school out of state just stayed near that school, and then repeated the same family equation.

There are some friends I wish would stay in contact more, or at all, but the one friend that is really important to me is still a big part of my life.

My 20-year is Saturday night and I'm actually looking forward to it.
Some folks there that I've already been in-touch with, but it'll be good to see them.

10 years didn't seem long enough, this is just about right.

Bump.

I got my invitation in the mail over the weekend. It's in Kildeer, IL and $53 a head. I don't know, the only reason I want to go is to get completely smashed.

Then again, I can do that at home without spending $50 to get in plus hotel, gas, etc. I think I'll just flip a coin.
