Based on what i've listened to enough to have an opinion:

1. Animal Collective
2. M. Ward
3. J. Tillman
4. Dan Auerbach
5. Vetiver

Biggest Disappointment:
William Elliott Whitmore

Biggest Surprise:
Franz Ferdinand

man i fucking LOVE this album. what a voice. after listening to this thing twice through (which i never do) i went out and immediately found her previous album and that headless heroes covers album from last year. haven't listened to the hh yet, but she is definitely my favorite discovery of '09 so far -- if i had to rank right now it would be #1.

I'd only heard a couple tracks from The Pirate's Gospel prior to this but I'm with you in thinking she's great. She's apparently friends with Joanna Newsom and is from the same area which cements her in my book but she's much more accessible.

check out mariee sioux, also from that nevada city scene. admittedly, it's been a long time since i tried, but i've not been able to get into joanna newsom at all.

Would you upload this for me? And is it similar to his last one?

this link is still working:

upon the first couple listens, it's not quite up to par with cancer and delerium for me, but it is good and it is still early. definitely continuing on with the more "upbeat" material, at least when compared to his first couple albums.

all the ruggedness has basically been ripped from his songs. they don't sound dark, which makes his voice just sound fake. it's like the guy from Clutch doing Dave Matthews songs.

not deleting it yet. But since WEW is one of my favorites artists in the last long while, that's how it's disappointing.

Diggin' this, since I like The Knife. Fever Ray is Karin Dreijer Andersson.

here's a vid of the first single: "If I Had A Heart"
