I'm going to set up a Playoff fantasy football league for anyone interested. Check the Yahoo league email. Any of you that didn't play in the obner league but are interested, let me know (e-stone, bloor?)

Hey guys,

Anyone interested in a fantasy playoff league? I'd be willing to run it via obner.

For those not familiar, we draft players from the playoff teams only. Once the draft is done you start that lineup every week through the Super Bowl. There are no waiver moves or trades. Once the player's team is eliminated, he is off your roster.

There are no head to head matchups, just a running point total for the entirety of the playoffs. The owner with the most points wins. If we can get 6 to play, we would draft 2 QBs (team QB), 3 RBs, 4 WRs, 2 TEs, 2 Ks, 2 D/STs each. If we can get 12, cut that in half (going with 1 RB each).

The scoring will be similar to our regular season. The only differences from our regular season scoring: no points (+ or -) for blocked kicks or interceptions. No decimal scoring---I'll round off. i.e. 79 yards rushing is worth 7 points, 80 yards rushing is worth 8 points.

We could do a live draft on obner on a weeknight before the first weekend of playoff games. The winner receives a CD from each loser.

If you're interested please email me ASAP. The first 5 to say they are in get the spots. If we can get to 12 players then we could expand it. Given the 12 playoff teams and the requisite math restrictions, we need either 6 or 12 owners. If we can't get 6--no go.

I'm looking for a weeknight draft next week Mon-Thurs. Aiming to start it 9 p.m. EST with some flexibility. With 12 of us, I'm expecting a challenge to find a night and time that works for everyone, but we'll give it our best shot.

We could run it in a thread here or on Chatzy. Thoughts?---actually, just looked and I'm wondering if we still have chat room with the new board---do we? If not, we can run it via a thread, it will just be a bit more cumbersome.

Great. I think we can speed the draft considerably using the chat room. Now we just need to find a night and time that all 12 of us are available next week.

I added the scoring for the playoff league to the post at the top of the page. Those of you who played in the obner league this season may want to check that as I changed it a bit from our regular season to make it easier to hand-score things--I don't have that much time on my hands.

i should be ok to do this any night next week. the later the better for me probably....

and just to be clear, taking a player that plays in a wild card game is a risk that could pay off with an extra game of points should that team make the super bowl, right?

Yep--that's the added strategy to a playoff league---predicting what teams are going to play more games. If you like a WC weekend team to advance to the Super Bowl, roll with their players. A mediocre RB from a great team is likely worth more than a great RB from a lesser team.

Google Wave might work for the draft. I haven't found a use for it yet but it could be helpful here. I have 15 invites left for it as well.

Will the number of starters/roster spots be the same as the regular season league or will it be less since we're drafting from a smaller pool of players?

With 12 owners and 12 playoff teams, we'll each draft 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D/ST.

Since there are no waiver moves, we will draft a team QB---i.e. the Indianapolis QB not Peyton Manning--you get his backup if he is injured. If one of your RB or WR is injured, you're out of luck.

I think chatzy will work fine for the draft, but I'm open to other ideas.

Who is keeping track of all the points and stats? Is this thru a website? I originally thought it was a Yahoo deal.
