Love that Elvis album Dump. People tend to universally malign everything Elvis did later in his career, but that album in no way deserves it. One of the best blends of country/rock/soul ever as far as I'm concerned.

Different path today for me though...

Kruder & Dorfmeister: G-Stoned soon to be followed by The K&D Sessions

Anyone with any interest at all in this sort of downtempo remixed and chilled out vibe has heard this stuff. Not much to really say beyond if you have any interest in this area at all, a couple obvious classics.

Yeah, I picked up the Legacy edition of it the other day, the 2nd disc has this as well. I tend to listen to his late period more than anything.

This was my go-to in my college days for the late-night come down.

any rec's you might have based on what i've listed here? it's a completely overwhelming genre...even just narrowed down to this 10 year period.

i'm thinking of checking out those miles davis quintet albums next: workin', relaxin', cookin' and steamin'

You should check out out Johnny Griffin if you haven't already. I'd start with "A Blowin' Session" which might be my favorite hard bop album. I think it would be right up your alley given that Hank Mobley, Lee Morgan, Art Blakey and Paul Chambers all play on it.

I'd also recommend you look into Jackie McLean and Joe Henderson.

Jazz is a pretty overwhelming genre. You seem to be finding a lot of the good ones on your own. If you're not doing it already, don't just look for albums where the artists you like are the band leader. Also look into the albums where they contribute as session players. Use the credits section of AMG. You'll probably find a lot of things up your alley that way.

This London duo use gritty beats, droning guitars, abstract effects and dreamy vocals to create a soundscape that is arty yet tuneful. They have previously supported TV On The Radio, Florence & The Machine, Crystal Castles and Klaxons.
Milo Cordell is son of 1960s pop producer Denny and runs the Merok label, which has released cutting-edge dance acts Klaxons and Crystal Castles. Robbie Furze is a former guitarist with electro-punk singer Alec Empire and is also a founding member of the band Panic DHH.

To date they have released three singles - Too Young To Love/Crystal Visions (House Anxiety), Velvet and Stop The World (4AD). They are currently recording their debut album at the Electric Ladyland Studios in New York which is set for release after the summer.

Sure.. Not quite as impressive as the previous record so far, but still a raucous blues blast. I need to hear it more though..
