since basketball season is done for me, I bought some beers just to sit down and watch this tonight. And some of those Rooibioos teas you guys were talking about.

This was really great. I also watched the Magic and Bird HBO doc from last year in the past two days, which was also excellent.

And after all that, and all her brother's money, she can't get a better weave? Ho looked a mess!

This was pretty good overall though. I forgot that the Knicks were basically a collection of behemoths - a fucking brontosaurus here, a mastadon there.

And the Pacers were just as bad, but they had a gangly Euro sex offender (Rik Smits - the mustache is a dead giveaway) and Bib Fortuna - aka Reggie "Cheryl" Miller.

Add the Heat from the same era and the ascension of AI into the equation and it's no wonder the league lost a lot of people in that era: It was dumb basketball being played by dummies.

I forgot how much I loved Reggie Miller. I loved how he would call out people after a game like calling Starks a choker in the press conference or Ewing a walker . You don't really see that anymore.

This is why it pains me not to have cable. Anyone know of any place online that is "hosting" these? I don't want to pay the $$ on itunes to download these and watch them once.

Bill Simmons interviews all of the directors on a 30 for 30 podcast. They're always great interviews.

John Salley had on the guy that did the Bird and Magic one for HBO a while back. Made me really want to watch it. Sounds fantastic.

eh... this one wasn't so hot. i guess i didn't see the focus. it was part-homecoming (for the director), part-"AI is polarizing", part-"there's racism in the south, especially when it comes to sports." but, admittedly, 30 for 30 has been killin' it, so a few missteps are to be expected.

(i am amped for the one on pablo escobar in june.)

I thought it was great. James kind of had to expose his roots in the story and have a position since if he didn't people would say there's no way he could be an impartial filmmaker (itself a logical fallacy) since he grew up there.

And yeah, I wince a lot when I see some of the ways Allen Iverson presents himself to the public, but it was interesting to get a look at how polarizing that horseshit trial was and how it all played out. One of the best things about sports is how it refracts society's best traits and its faults in new ways that can MAYBE help us figure out new ways to tackle the bad stuff. Iverson's troubled youth, early fame, his fall and the road forward since are great at displaying that.

Lastly, Bruce Hornsby? WTF!?

I haven't seen it yet, what was Hornsby doing in it? He used to tell me about playing ball in Williamsburg in high school and, while he's mad tall and I saw the pictures, I kinda thought that he's full of shit sometimes.

You know Bruce Hornsby? That's all kinds of awesome.

I didn't watch the AI one yet, but I did hear the podcast with the director: it's a story i've heard most of before but that does not deter my interest in the least: as i've mentioned before, i'm an unabashed fan of AI.

hornsby and some other peninsula celebrities were part of the crew who talked to the then-governor to commute iverson's sentence.
