Just a heads up...Barnes and Noble is running the 50% off sale again.
Anyone got any Criterion blu-ray recommendations? I'm really out of the loop in terms of dvd/blu-ray releases lately.

Wonder if my B&N card is still valid. Recs? What are you into? Its a pretty broad spectrum to choose from.

I'm into a pretty broad range of film, but when it comes to owning something I usually try to pick titles that I'll watch more than once. Basically, nothing that's a "chore" to get through, regardless of its historical importance, etc. I was thinking about maybe picking up that America Lost and Found BBS set and just leaving it at that. I wish they'd upgrade that Louis Malle set to blu-ray.

Yeah, based off yr description its hard to recommend something to you.

The BBS Story set is great. Criterion did an in-house 50% sale when they reached a certain number of FB fans and I picked it up. Definitely worth yr time and money. Easy Rider looks really great.

Kiss Me Deadly and Night of the Hunter have never looked better (on blu) and have a lot of rewatchability, I think. Also Naked just got a blu-ray upgrade.

Questionable Criterion release. Did Demme win a poker game or something? Sheesh.

There is a one day valentines day sale on, Promo code: SWAK. Also, I made a wishlist a while ago and they gave me a $10 credit just for doing so. So I got Do the Right Thing for about $15 including shipping, regularly $32. Not bad.

Well, it might still be...they've been having problems with the site and the titles that go out of stock will be given a code to honor the 50% sale.

I have the one with "Even Dwarfs Started Small" and "Heart of Glass" but that's the only one. I also need to grab that Popol Vuh soundtrack collection you posted about awhile ago. That thing looked ridiculous.

Backordered DVDs/Blus can be ordered for 50% using REDO. Up until 5p EST Thursday.

Yeah, that boxset is very cool. He just put out a huge boxset only offered on his website. It has a bunch of shorts/docs/etc that aren't anywhere else or are OOP. Too bad its super expensive. But I really want it.

So I got sucked in by this. I RARELY, if ever, rewatch DVD's that I've bought over the years but perusing their collections just makes me want to immerse myself into all those old films and completely nerd out.

I'll probably try and go rent a bunch of those at the local indie video store here but I did buy this:

I'm about 90% sure that a honeymoon in Spain is going to happen this year and I've been told that Gaudi's architecture dominates much of Barcelona and othr parts of Spain. This is apparently a movie with little dialogue (maybe 10 sentences) and long shots of his works set to an eerie Japanese score. I thought it might help romanticize my trip even more.

Nice. Yeah, I ended up not getting any. My movie buying has been severely cut, since I use Netflix to check out anything I want. There are a few I'd like to have, but then I have the DVD version (Rushmore, Bottle Rockets, Solaris, Paris,TX, Night of the Hunter) so, rebuying them on BR seems so wasteful. Ah well. I probably would've pulled the trigger if that Hollis Frampton was included in the sale, but as it was a pre-order so, natch.
