Thanks for the Surfer Blood Dalen. I am enjoying several tracks off it right now actually.

yeah man, it's a really solid album.

i hope the initial hype doesn't hurt them, because they're really talented, and have written/produced one of the best albums i've heard in the past few years.

I pre-ordered this. I listened to the stream that Sub Pop sent me. I'm really excited. This is really great.

Low was a huge gateway band for me when I heard Things We Lost in 2001. I like RGC's first record, so am looking forward to 2, and seeing them soon.

Vampire Weekend's new one is indeed surprisingly good. True, it's pretty derivative, but it has just enough innovation for it to not be pastiche. The lead singer's voice sounds more accomplished on this one. I even like the auto tune song.

VW get one giant MEH from me. Don't hate em but don't think they're all that great. They fall into the Grizzly Bear category for me in that respect.

Listened to Contra...Its pretty good I guess. There were parts that made me cringe but the overall upbeat vibe was such that I never really considered turning it off or skipping a song. I'll throw it in the rotation and see how it shakes out.

i had a feeling you might actually dig them dude. their songs are well crafted, and while inspired and influenced, fairly original.

yeah, dunno why they did the auto tune bit, but it doesn't bug me. maybe because it's slight.

I was a big Low fan for many years, but I kinda turned the corner to a bigger fan probably 3 years ago. I didn't really give much thought to Sparhawk's solo outings, but his Guitar record is good, and my wife bought me RGC's first with a limited EP, and I love it. As soon as the pre-order was avail, I pulled the trigger. More of a harder Low record for those who want a description.

By the way--1000 Times Yes reviewed it today--6.5

How is that new Yeasayer? I heard a single right before I left and was not impressed. I really liked their other record though.

hmmm, i still think the single is the best thing on there even though the whole thing is growing on me little by little. completely different album than their first though - which i greatly prefer.

OH!! Can we hear that limited EP?
I like his Guitar record very much.
Haven't loved a Low album since Trust, and even then... each new album, almost excluding drums & guns, has had several moments.
