Bastard.

Can't you just abscond with a mail truck across state lines, like Newman did when he and Kramer tried the Michigan bottle return scam?

This is the official Senator LooGAR bailout. I really want to meet y'all, and want to go back to SXSW even more...so much that I think I'm gonna apply to UT law school. With the job stuff that's going on, I know my boss would flip his wig...and I need to hold on to this one until I get a new one.

I'm sorry Bob. I know you are jazzed for this. Plus, I get the feeling I would get along with the likes of Chuck, Babe and whoever else wanders in. After all, I'm pretty fucking cool.

My homeboy Tommy said we should try for ACL Festival.

My question to all those who can't make it, so we can try for a better turnout next year, is would it have helped ensure your attendance if we had given more advance notice with the exact specific details? While we've been chatting this up since the day after Christmas (which seems like ample notice), it wasn't until recently that we actually had specific times and addresses to go with the city and date. If we need to pin these details down sooner next year to get more people to show up, that's definitely something I want to do.

It just seems like there should be some reasonable way to get all (or at least most) of us together once a year. I'd like to figure out how we can do that. Help me help you help me.

For me personally, its a money issue since I just started work a month or two ago. I would hope that by this time next year I will have saved up a bit and could afford the trip.

Well guess what, I'm going. It's about 95% for sure. My friend convinced me to go and so basically we're going to road trip it from LA to Austin... I just have to figure out the specifics to see how many days we can get off work (most likely leaving the 16th, so probably arrive the 17th) and also I have to make sure she doesn't flake.

BEST. NEWS. EVER.

Seriously. One of my biggest regrets about last year's FT World Tour was not getting to meet you during my L.A. stop. Dri. This makes up for the last-minute flake-outs of Johnny Taint and His Cans of Piss (a.k.a. Derris and LooGAR). More importantly, this also means we have managed to narrowly avert a sausage fest.

Man, this just made my fucking weekend!

It's THE Cans of Piss, Bobbo...Goddamnit!! If I get a new job in the interim, I reserve the right to randomly show up.

I have promised a neighbor I'd take care of her dog that entire weekend. I know it's a lame excuse, but it's true. Unless I can bring her.

As far as having more success in getting people to come, I'd suggest setting a definite date far in the future, with monthly reminders. That will give people plenty of time to get finances together, clear their calendar..etc.

I truly did want to come as my friends here in Atlanta are really my wife's friends. Haven't really met anyone since leaving NY.

Steve

We'll take up a collection for you to have her boarded during the time you're in Austin. The neighbor will never know. Have your cake and eat it too, Steve!!!

darrrrrrrr! i want to but it's hard enough for me to get the 17th, 18th, & 21st off (stupid magazine deadlines). plus my friend can't take off the 16th. realistically speaking, we will only be at sxsw for 2-3 days because if we drive out there, it'll take us at least a day. but i'm all about the roadtrip.

anyway, FT, i say next year ya'll plan a trip to la for coachella. you know you want to. :P

this is during my spring break--which means I'll be studying for Medical boards.

you know things are fucked when vacations equal more chances to study.

sorry Bob--you guys have a grand time though.

Sorry dude. My travel budget just got blown - my great grandmother's 100th birthday party, not something I can plausibly ditch.

I also note, though this is clearly not a sufficient excuse, that I have a rare-as-hen's-teeth dental appointment that friday. My teeth were bargain basement material, as far as I can tell.

This was getting a little too close to dropping off the front page for my liking.

ducksoup will most definitely be there on 3/16, but 3/18 may be a no-go.

I'll be home with the kids while my better half is on a business trip to Chicago. One of these years I'll make it. I may be the one with a walker and a long grey beard, but I'll get there.

Thanks for the thought tho FT.

I would love to go and think I will make it, but not this year. I was finally able to land a little job after a really long time "off".
