hes been mentioned, but i think Hayden's 'the closer i get' is the ultimate sad wallowing in despair album. I turn to it when im in that mood.

also turn to Modest Mouse - the Moon and Antarctica and Neil Young's Sleeps with Angels and Pink Floyd's Animals
