BTW, I randomly pulled out Green a couple weeks ago and I don't think that album is nearly as bad as people remember it being. In fact, it's mostly pretty damn good.

Stand is so bad that if you threw it in the middle of Exile, I'd end up hating Exile.

But "Stand" is like "Rocks Off" compared to "Shiny Happy People".

Disagree...I hate them both but Stand is lower level of Hell than Shiny Happy People.

"stand" gets bonus points for being the theme to chris elliott's sitcom, get a life

the r.e.m. album from that era i think holds up better is document, which also gets unfairly maligned quite a bit

"oddfellows local 151" came up on shuffle the other day, and i spent a good several hours thereafter mentally shout-singing FI-RE HOUUUUUUUSE!

CoS has become one of my daily reads. They post way more news throughout the day, and most of their articles/features are well-written. If and when you look at the number one record, read the write-up. The fact that this is why they chose it and elicited responses from readers made it worthwhile, imo.

I started going through the list and noticed more than an album or two from my own top 100. Here's the overlap (my rank is in parenthesis):

98. Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti (70)
96. Beck – Midnite Vultures (87)
95. Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here (64)
86. Elton John – Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (48)
43. David Bowie – The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (26)
29. AC/DC – Back In Black (41)
16. The Who – Who’s Next (2)
12. The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed (13)
01. The Beatles – Abbey Road (20)

Almost hit Let It Bleed dead on the nose.

Agree with Drink here. In fact, the impetus for me breaking the album was hearing "Stand" on the radio. If you can make it to the bridge, it's actually a pretty solid little tune. SHP has zero redeeming value.
