Les Savy Fav album is pretty dull, but I wasn't really expecting anything new from them so it's hard to say I was disappointed.

I guess that Best Coast album was pretty disappointing.

Yeah. Dude just overexposed himself with those 37 mixtapes.

i'm pretty close to adding this new cheap time to my biggest disappointments of 2010. i've given it a lot of chances over the last few weeks and it's doing nothing at all for me. and their self-titled really killed.

I dunno, I loved Primary Colours, but this one just didn't sit right with me. Also, there's one of those 26 minute tracks or some bullshit.

Much as I loved "The '59 Sound," I had a baaaad feeling about what Gaslight Anthem would follow it with and I was pretty much right. The songs have hooks and all the same ingredients, but it just didn't stick with me at all.

Same thing with the New Pornographers record. I hoped seeing them do those songs live would add a different dimension like what happened to me with "Challengers" but it didn't help. They're up to a 10 piece now on tour and it's getting pretty ridiculous, trying to give everyone enough of a showing. Not to mention that microphoning a group like that live is a bitch and a half so the final sound mix suffers. I'd like to see them slim back down to six or so, ditch the guests, and maybe knock a record out over the course of like 2 weeks with whoever from their Wu-Tang-esque assemblage is able to squeeze in some time. People would quibble over whether you can really call such a collection a true "New Pornographers" record if (heavens to Betsy!) Neko or Bejar or whoever were left out, but with results such as this last one I think a change of some sort is in order, moniker be damned.

i totally agree on american slang. however, then i heard their new single of "tumbling dice" and realized that american slang really wasn't the worst from them.

Good golly. I was unaware that existed, and wish that was still the case. I had to struggle to get to the 1 minute mark. I wish Fallon would go back toward writing punk tunes.

I guess I'm disappointed that Don Henley is still alive.

whew, i'm glad i'm not alone. i was thinking that my rage toward its existence was solely because it's one of my very favorite stones songs. i heard a few people actually say, "this is pretty good." i had to walk away from that conversation.

Yeah. Dude just overexposed himself with those 37 mixtapes.

Damn, I didn't realize he had that many. I've only heard Mr. Zone 6 and Jewelry Selection, both which are great. Are any of the others worth grabbing?

For what it's worth stylistically the new Pernice Brothers is a little different, but the songwriting is intact. Same goes for Teenage Fanclub.

....and that Spoon record is great.

Totally thought the same about LSF for a while there, but then a switch got flipped and aside from 2 dismal, redundant tracks - crutches, calm down - it's in my top 5, can't stop listening to it, that sort of thing. I don't expect anyone will agree with me about it.

Completely agree about BC though. But, I do have hopes that they/she will grow into something with all the touring.
