I've often been tempted to start a similar thread...I work in an office where I am one of the few non loud talkers, the ranks of which include many of my subordinates and unfortunately many colleagues (use the term loosely)and my boss. Fortunately I work in a building where I can take my work to an empty room and get away from it, which I am forced to do on an almost daily basis. I hate it I tell you !

Z, are you in finance? Who the hell needs to be on that many conference calls in a week, never mind one day?

Shit, as a consultant at a large bank, all of my meetings are conference calls. Once I get in the middle of a project, 4 a day sounds about right on average.

Also, I'm with everyone on taking personal phone calls alone in the mail room or break room or wherever I can get away from people. I don't need people knowing my biz-nass.

who fucking talks on the phone? I do probably 90% of business over text, email and then personal meetings.

"Yo, can you go to lunch this week?"

"Yeah where?"

"You pick, I'll pay"

"Thursday, MCC, Done."

"See you there. Let's make some yellow cake, son"

Is almost a verbatim txt exchange between me and a former lt. gov. the week before xmas.

I'm the only person in the office. I'm not talking loud, cos that would be mad, me being the only person here and all. However I am laughing out loud.

HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

I'M REALLY DOING IT! I'M LAUGHING!!!

HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

Where I work no one is allowed to use office equipment or phones. No one has an office, desk, or cubicle. If you don't talk loud like a gangstah or white trash you will get run over. Everyone is angry, fat, loud, aggressive, ethnic, or dumb white. Everyone seems to have a tattoo. The only radio station is playing loud urban auto-tuned imitation c-rap. If you guys had to work here, you wouldn't be liberals any more.

I have a co-worker that is so loud I can hear him through the ceiling. His office is above mine. You get used to it in this biz. You have to be on the phone, although I do a lot of biz via e-mail.

This lady outside my new office locale has straight-up chartoon character voice. Like, helium range. It is amazing. And annoying. But honestly more amazing than annoying. Her vocal chords must be 3mm long or something.

i come back from lunch and the loud talker nearby is on one of her tangents. the entire floor is quiet and she is basically yelling into the phone saying, "they might leave me in a dumpster or something." someone two rows over says, "oh, that'd be nice." entire floor starts quietly giggling.
