I watched the opener for Game of Thrones and have the last 2 eps DVR'ed but wasn't entirely sold after the first one. Still need to catch up. The first ep crammed a shitload of characters into one hour.

First blush, it seemed over the top T&A and violent. Not that I mind that but it seemed like laughably gratuitous like 80's HBO orginals. First & 10 or The Hitchhiker kind of nudity.

I'll stick with it for now.

It's not Showtime, Derris. There's definitely that element, but it's not like the plot is all bunkum to get you to the next rack.

It's very political/intrigue driven, with lots of violence and english accents.

I'm pretty invested at this point with this though even with the element of fantasy introduced there at the end of the finale

I still stand by that there are elements of ridiculousness with it's over the top scenes. The one where the guy is in the whore house (dude from The Wire) instructing the 2 women how to please a man ("Now you play the man").......and he's waxing poetic over his plans, etc. I just found it laughable and totally unnecessary.

I bailed on The Killing and on Treme, but damned if I'm bailing on Tyrion The Imp. That's my dog.

man, this show really went south in a hurry

overload of red herrings and preposterous twists, along with some of the most ham-fisted overwrought acting you'll ever see

2) In the finale, The Killing introduced us to a new TV character........THE GAS STATION ATTENDANT WHO REMEMBERS EVERYTHING....

even worse was the cabbie pulled straight out of an episode of law & order.

yeah, i kept watching with cautious optimism and a naive it'll-all-come-together-in-the-finale outlook. are there any actual cops on this board? was this the worst fictional detective work ever? i've never seen a show do it worse.

i kept going on The Killing. agree with a lot of the criticism of the show. it had a few good performance and some interesting twists. the ending didnt bother me all that much. i'll probably give it another shot next year.

gave up on treme after last season.

game of thrones was great.

The Killing was pathetically awful, and I'm still undecided about whether I will tune in for the second season. Apparently, the showrunner sees nothing wrong with how the show went in S1 ("we never promised the murder would be solved in the first season"), so I'm not sure how much faith I have for S2 to improve.

I'm still sticking with Treme, but oftentimes I enjoy reading the Treme Explained post on nola.com more than the show itself. I will say, this past week's ending did hit more of a chord with me. It's definitely a "dvr and watch on Monday or Tuesday" show for me, though.

Game of Thrones is awesome, and I'm all the way in on that one. Can't wait for S2 but hate that it won't be until next spring, though its probably to be expected. One thing that I've read and agree with, is that I hope that HBO ups the budget for the show based on its success. Believable CGI dragons aren't cheap. Also, some battle scenes that don't take place entirely offscreen would be good too.

Considering that the fifth book is finally being released after six years, and the book before that took five years, a one-year wait (which is normal for TV anyway) doesn't seem like that much.

Haven't seen the show yet since I don't get HBO, but it's already in the "Saved" section of my Netflix queue.

Love some Treme. Richly textured is right. I feel like each character is incredibly nuanced and well written. I actually felt some sympathy for Steve Zahn's "Davis" in that last one.

Also the fact that music plays such a HUGE role in the whole thing.

Bonus points: Spider fucking Stacy was in the last episode

i don't think i've ever done a bigger 180 with regard to going from hating to loving a tv character as i have from what i thought of him early in season 1 to later in season 1 and, of course, now (i'm still a few episodes behind, though)

I don't mind that the murder didn't get solved, but I do mind very much that every single thing they ever showed us was irrelevant to either the characters or the plot.

yeah, i'm in the same boat. had they wrapped up the season without solving the case, it would have been fine if it'd been done it in a manner that wasn't a slap in the face to the audience. but every episode was a big fuck you. they spoiled a really good pilot by taking the "24" formula to an episode of "cold case." thumbs down.

none of the shows mentioned on this page are worth a damn in my opinion.

HBO can suck my dick these days.

can't wait for breaking bad.

This is where I am. Both of AMC's last two programs started good and fell off. I think they need to invest in better writers to execute their concepts.
