well, there's a limit of 200,000 songs but I think that's enough for me.

played around with audiogalaxy.
not gonna be my thing.
I don't keep all my music on my hard drive. mostly an external.
i'd rather upload slowly to a true cloud like service...
but ya can't beat free.

not really, it allows you to stream your local content to your idevice/other computer/android over the internet. take about half a day to index everything (at least it did for me) but then it runs innocuously and updates as you change things. streaming is very nice, you can also download for offline playing. requires that you keep your home computer on and online, however, which is a deal breaker for some, i suppose.

Google Music for anything brand spanking new/freshly leaked, Spotify for everything else. Spotify is without a doubt the best music service I've ever used, hands down. Being able to think 'fuck, i'd love to hear +band name here+ and being able to instantly listen to it anywhere I am by just typing in their name...fucking brilliant.

I agree that Spotify is a godsend, but there are still big holes there (which I assume will be filled over time). That's why I still want some sort of cloud. sometimes I wanna be able to browse through 'my' stuff, rather than have to think about what band I wanna hear ala spotify....what about Rdio or whatever that spotify like service is called, or MOG? anyone like those?

Audiogalaxy sounds interesting. I may give it a try for a few things just to see. But, it lacks the advantage of cloud storage in case of a hard drive crash.

Hold the phone....
Finally decided to do the Amazon Cloud simply for the unlimited music uploading capabilities...

Got this email from them just now...

Quote:
You have 20 GB available to store your photos, videos, documents and more. We have also included unlimited music uploads as part of this plan, so none of your uploaded music will count toward your 20 GB storage quota for one year. For details please see the Manage Your Cloud Drive page.

Either this means, this is a promotion, and after one year, they are gonna hit people up with a 'you are using 80 gigs, you now have to give us $80 for the next year to maintain your cloud account as is".... or i would be grandfathered in since i joined during the promotion....

i'm gonna get in touch with them to find the scoop before i continue to upload music.....

*UPDATE*
just spoke with Amazon customer service and he confirmed for me that as long as you psy your $20/year, you have unlimited space to upload music..... WHEW...

Amazon it is!
500 gigs of music uploading, starts now!

i uploaded a bunch of shit to the amazon cloud storage last night and now playing some at work. seems pretty cool, although the downloading will take forever. also, it will be annoying when this no-limit music storage ends...not sure how much this would really be worth to me.

Yeah, the unlimited is the attraction to me. They get rid of that and I'm gonna be pretty disappointed in the whole thing. They keep unlimited and eventually I will end up with a stupidly ridiculous amount of music there.

Two things about the Amazon music player (at the least the Android version):

-I like that it let's you tab between music that's on your phone and music that's in the cloud. It beat's the Google player on that fact alone.

BUT

-It doesn't scrobble to LastFM if that's important to you.

Amazon also needs to enable some editing features....
I uploaded my Queen Discography consisting of 14 full albums...
When I checked it, Amazon had broken it up into maybe 10 albums, then broke some up by singles, compilations, etc....
the OCD in me is not gonna be happy.....

Yeah, a few things I really care about and listen to often I had to delete and make sure the tags were just right and re-upload.

All of this stuff getting uploaded and not put into proper folders by artist is gonna kill me.
and amazon not giving you the option to edit and move stuff around how i want it, is gonna kill me..
keep telling myself free is free.
