Jawbox certainly isn't forgotten in this household - great band and nice people. I was just listening to the J. Robbins one-off project Rollkicker Laydown 7" a few minutes ago.

Seam gets my vote, although several people around here like(d) them. The Problem With Me is one of my favorite albums ever.

Magazine.

Not really forgotten, but more forgotten than they should be. Their first three albums are all amazing.

Since "Sunburnt" in the mid-90's, they've released "Secret Box" (which is impossible to find, although I will own one some day) and "Sketchbook".

I ordered "Secret Box"--I think it was like 30 bucks. I saw one on ebay probably over a year ago and it was selling for about $70. I wonder if it's even higher now? I should have ordered a few just for this reason.

I'll add, in the kiwi vein, the Verlaines and Tall Dwarfs.

See, I don't think Failure is forgotten. Of course it's a good thing if Brainiac isn't forgotten, I just don't know many people who know them.

Treat Her Right

Everyone remembers Sandman for his work with Morphine, but I'll always prefer his output with THR. They only recorded three albums, but all three were stellar.

Another band I'd like to mention in this category are Wild Seeds, who I think only recorded one album (in the 1987-88 timeframe). They were an Austin band very much in the vein of X, and their frontman now spends his days writing for my favorite magazine, Texas Monthly.

I sure do wish I still had that Wild Seeds album...

You've got to be careful. There are two "Meteors", one was either Dutch or Belgian, and did some weak synth/new romantic crap in the early 80's

The Meteors you want are the psychobilly band fronted by P. Paul Fenech. "Wreckin' Crew" is probably their best LP, it contains the single "Johnny, Remember Me" and a kick-ass cover of "Get Off My Cloud". Any of the singles or albums on the Mad Pig label are also solid.

I was just listening to Failure the other day. Certainly not forgotten in my book...

I was going to say maybe Prefab Sprout or Love and Rockets, but I could be wrong.
