Come on dude. I know you don't follow football but he's currently one of the hottest topic in sports.

Not sure anyone's riled up as they are interested in the sociological phenomenon surrounding Tebow.

The whole "you can't explain it" argument is the worst. Last I looked, Rapist Roethlisberger is outpacing Good Christian Tebow in the rings department. You can't explain that! God must love rape more than hating abortion & circumcisions!

This.

Don't give two shits about the guy, almost never think about him, but hey someone asked. Or something.

Perfect summation, though points subtracted for not going with "Rapelisberger."

Because I think Christians whipping themselves into a lather about being persecuted for their faith is at an all-time high. This includes this new bullshit argument that you have "freedom OF religion not freedom FROM religion", unless of course you want to build a mosque or belong to Mitt Romney's Cult.

I think making oneself or ones beliefs (or lack thereof) the victim is what's at an all time high, rating just above creating strawmen and just below making illogical conclusions based on other people's statements on the scale of shut the fuck up nobody cares.

I think using the phrase "at an all time high" is at an all time high.

If that's directed at my statement, I'm certainly not a victim in any way and I don't think I've put anything in the shut the fuck up category. It was simply a generalization. Our country's in trouble and it's coming from the left and the right. Blind faith? All faith is blind, but it doesn't influence the outcome of a football game for sure.

It wasn't directed at you at all.

I would love to hear more about "our country's in trouble" though.

Hating on Christians? What Christians? ("Christian" is now an American-centric diversion from 2000 years of spritual inquiry). 1,000 groups in the US define members of their group as the ONLY the true Christians.

In my experience "faith" can sometimes be lucid, not blind.

Or to summarize, Rick Perry just compared himself to Tim Tebow at the Repub Debate tonight.

If that's true, it is further confirmation that I am happy to not be watching that garbage. I'd rather watch Jersey Shore. Just as many train wrecks.

Ok. To be fair-ish. "I hope I am the..." is quit different, rhetorically speaking, than "I am...".

I am Joe Cicero and I do not endorse Perry's candidacy. :)

It's embarrassing. He's the governor from TEXAS, and he can't even make a good football metaphor.

You truly have no idea how much easier it is to be a christian in this country than to not be one. I dont want to be harsh or an asshole, but seriously, that is complete and utter bullshit, with all respect. Try to empathize... if you lived in a country where 60%+ people claimed to believe in a magical house cat who's been slated to come back "any day now" and whisk (whisker?) away all his true believers, and people started making policy on it, trying to force your kids to pray to the cat, and nobody could get elected without swearing they believed in the cat / proving how many times they've been to kitty church / going to the right FLAVOR of kitty church because some are not as in-the-pocket as others, etc... It sounds silly because it's a cat but I'm not sure a magical jewish zombie sounds much less silly to me. All of this works perfectly as long as I don't have to have Magic Cat enforced on me. I'm not sure how I'm enforcing "do whatever the fuck you want" on you, nor how it's harming you in some way.

You have all the churches you could ever ask for. You have Magic Cat on the currency. Your right to do pretty much whatever your flavor of religion dictates is protected in the goddamned constitution. You have every liberty and then some that people in other places who are ACTUALLY oppressed for their beliefs would (and do) die for. But because not everyone believes in / makes policy according to Magic Cat, the country is in trouble and you are in some way oppressed.

I don't see it.
