It was supposed to be one of those feel-good segments on a local television newscast: A rescued dog. A grateful owner. The hero firefighter who pulled the dog from the ice. But that's not how it turned out.

The dog, an Argentine mastiff named Gladiator Maximus, attacked Kyle Dyer, anchorwoman at NBC's KUSA Denver affiliate, during a live, in-studio segment on Wednesday that was meant to celebrate the dog's rescue from an icy lake the day before.

...except for the split second before he bit her, in which she didn't really have time to react. I mean it'd be nice if they printed a little about just what those "repeated" signals were. The dog turning away? I mean, educate us. Of course it would totally go against Yahoo's nature to post an article with any actual substance.

But on the other hand...


Yeah who the hell tries to kiss a big strange dog like that. Most people show more caution around my runt of a miniature schnauzer.

Prison inmate sneaks pig into design of state crest on three dozen police cars





Vermont Public Safety Commissioner Keith Flynn says he learned of the altered car stickers yesterday and Corrections Commissioner Andrew Pallito is looking into who made the modification and when.

Mr Pallito said about 60 altered crests were made over the last couple of years.

The disclosure was amusing to both Mr Flynn and Senate President Pro Tempore John Campbell, D-Windsor, who are both former police officers.

'This is not as offensive as it would have been years ago. We can see the humor,' Mr Flynn said.

'If that person had used some of that creativeness,' mR Flynn added, 'he or she would not have ended up inside.'

State police Maj. Bill Sheets wasn’t amused by the prank.

'While some may find humor in the decal modifications, the joke unfortunately comes at the expense of the taxpayers,' he said.

New stickers will be made by Monday at a cost of $780

The expense will be covered by a surplus in the revolving fund that supports the offender work program, Mr Pallito said.

Signing contract with builder on a house today. I never thought I would be settling down in the DC area.

Move to Loudoun County. Live where 2/3 of the residents are government employees &/or contractors -- but all Teabaggers, who hate the government, hate government spending, want to drown the government in a bathtub.

We are renting in Loudoun right now (and I am a gov employee) but we decided to buy a little further out in Gainesville. I like Loudoun a lot, but we can just get more house in Prince William County for the money (though it is still ridiculously expensive).
